Need help with adding plants around pond

I would like to add plants/flowers around the koi pond, meaning in the rocks. We have perennials around the area and annuals for color, but somehow would like to get more color/greenery in the rock area??? Have a hard time with pond plants because of shade, but open to all ideas.
