We first began this project back in 2016 and were working our way through this four-storey home in Bois-Franc (Montreal) when our clients discovered their dream home around the corner. Luckily the new furniture and design was easy to relocate as the front living room was the same layout. Two years later, our clients were ready for the finishing touches in their new home.
We placed two grey velvet mid century sofas on either side of the fireplace to create an inviting seating area with an oversized ottoman, coffee table and extra seating on the side.
Painting the fireplace all white makes the space contemporary but restful. And definitely not cold.
A large flat-weave geometric wool area rug defines the space and custom commissioned artwork gives the room personality. Finally, custom floor to ceiling draperies in the same grey as the rug give height and drama to the joint living/dining rooms. Never underestimate the power of draperies!
