I would look at Marvin Integrity as an option first. Should definitely be less expensive than the clad Marvin option.

Marcie, a couple of us have posted questions about windows and doors in SoCal. Do not know how much time you have put in yet. Let me warn you, I have been trying to decide for over two years. The Pros here are very helpful. You can probably find my posts.

Unfortunately, CA codes are strict. I have looked at all the brand you listed and more. Please make sure your house can pass Title 24 with aluminum windows such as Fleetwood. In my case, Integrity was not significantly less than Ultimate because I was told some window sizes could not be done with Integrity and I got a mix of Integrity and Ultimate windows in my quote.

Thank you for your advice. We're in the initial stages, but anxious to make decisions and get our home built quickly. I will look into comparing (and possibly combining) Integrity and Ultimate.

Step 1...move out of California.

Step 2...pick whatever window you want.

For Windows and doors: I’m on the coast and after much research went with fiberglass. They looked and felt so much nicer than vinyl. I didn’t want the maintenance or price of wood. I don’t know why aluminum is still an option, they’re terrible. We’ve had ours for about a year and we are very happy.

Living there...awesome. Code enforcement on glazing when a thermally broken aluminum would probably be the best choice...onerous.
