Subzero 36 inch built-in refrigerator and freezer columns

Anyone have the Subzero 36 inch built-in refrigerator and freezer columns (not integrated, but built-ins)? How do they look? Too big if you put them together (side-by-side)? Would especially like to see them side-by-side flush inset with cabinet panels on them. Thanks!

Try asking on the appliance forum

What do you mean by flush inset, with panels on them? The panels stick out on the refrigerators that are built-in.

CP On my computer it shows that the question was asked on the appliance, kitchen and building forums.

Yes I mean flush inset for built-ins. Subzero has instructions on how to do it so the panels do not stick out. I am especially interested in seeing how it would look for a white shaker style panel door on the 36 inch Subzero built-in columns. Think it might be too much stainless steel to have two 36 inch columns side-by-side in stainless so wanted to see it paneled to see if that would like better. Thanks!

Since I haven't seen your kitchen plans, I am not sure whether I am helping here. But we had a similar question and came up with an alternative solution.

After some reflection we realized that we never really need all that much freezer space. But we certainly do need all the fridge space. So, instead of getting two columns, we are getting a 36" refrigerator column, and two Perlick freezer drawers. That allows for much better space utilization in our kitchen (remodel is currently underway, so haven't actually seen it yet).

It only gives about half of the capacity of a 36" freezer column. But that'll be fine for our needs. We also do have a little bit of overflow freezer capacity somewhere else in the house, if absolutely needed (and that's also where we can get ice).

Maybe, this type of outside-the-box thinking can help you find a better solution than having two bulky units next to each other.

Thanks very much. We actually were thinking the same thing as an alternative. We also don’t need a 36 inch wide freezer but would like the 36 inch wide fridge so we thought of 2 sets of 30 inch Subzero freezer drawers but in comparing prices of the drawers with panels, it actually got to be more expensive so didn’t make sense. But great suggestion!

We have them , but separated by drawers.

I have two 30 inch SZ refrigerators with the double freezer drawers that are side by side. While it's plenty of refrigerator space, even with four drawers, there isn't nearly enough freezer space. In a past house, I had the side by side SZ 36" refrigerator/freezer combo. My friend has the same set up in stainless steel. It doesn't seem to overwhelm the space. It's really a matter of personal preference.

I suggest you search for pictures on Houzz. I found a lot of images, both with cabinets and with stainless.

We are also going with a 36 inch refrigerator and freezer drawers. I never heard of the brand Perlick before. Do you like your drawers?

It really looks like 2 large pantry s... so you will have a solid wall of cabinetry- look with these 2... Make sure your designer knows you want to do a flush inset vs regular built-in - it takes up a different amount of space and has specific requirements for the panels and door clearances..

    Good luck!

The paneled flush inset look is not horrible, but its just not as good as the integrated which REALLY looks like cabinets. The above picture is very obviously a paneled fridge. Honestly I wouldn't pay this kind of money and not get the integrated version if using panels. The stainless BI looks fine (imo)
