More fashion talk.....if you had

.....only a few select items that you could choose, what would they be?

My "uniform" would be beige pants (in a jean, a khaki and a dress pant) and a white top, blouse for fancy, t-shirt for casual. Then a denim jean, one skinny and one straight leg.

Shoes would be a pair of sneaker and two pairs of ballet flats, one black one beige. My comfortable Ecco sandals, a pair of flip-flops and one dressier shoe.

Yesterday I met a friend for lunch on a warm day, and with all the spring summer/clothing I have stacked up, various colors and even patterns (gasp) I wore a dressy white top and beige jeans.

A couple of pair of slim black pants, pair of slim jeans, long sweater sets for dressy casual, couple of casual long tops, dressy top of some sort, maybe lace. Summer skirt and a skort and a few casual tops.

Shoes would be black booties and a pair of black Ecco sneakers and Gentle Souls sneakers for winter, a 2-3 pair of sandals, casual and low heeled dressier sandals for summer. And my running apparel and shoes.

This is harder than I thought.

    I don't like tight. I don't like flowing. I prefer body-skimming styles.

    My go-to outfit:

black slim pants (not tight, not skinny, just classic skimming) ankle length

    black loafers

boatneck (top of the hip length) 3/4 sleeve top

With that, I can wear any layer -- I have a 3/4 length black cardigan in different weights; a white denim jacket for spring/summer or a Tencel denim color overshirt. For dressier, a blazer (my summer blazer is black and white gingham).

For more casual, I like bootcut jeans.

This is easy. I wear scrubs to work most days of the week so my wardrobe is a weekend wardrobe. It consists of skinny jeans, cashmere sweaters and boots , ballet flats or loafers in the fall and winter. In the spring and summer I prefer dresses, crops, shorts, T's and sandals.

For dressy events I have several options and am willing to shop for the occasion. For travel I have a capsule wardrobe of mostly black and white with lots of scarves.

Musts for me are slim white crop/anckle pants. White shorts. My flex ban together sandals. Nude 2" block heel sandal. Stretchy black athletic shorts. A bunch of simple comfortable v-neck sleeveless or 3/4 sleeve tops mainly in solid colors.

I agree with d-_gw, navy slim pants, I like shirts with collars and usually wear a pale blue or lime cashmere as an accessory , maybe over my shoulders. It is my uniform and sometimes I wonder if its little too preppy. I also like to load up on my bracelets, no necklace or earring.....sometimes that make me feel a little too decorated!

I've been trying to answer this and my answers are all too long. For someone who is happy to have some space in her closet, I sure have a hard time distilling my wardrobe to a few essentials. I guess I don't have a uniform, aside from wearing a lot of white shirts.

Black jersey skirt, orchid-pink T, black mary janes. Maybe a black jersey cardigan. If I wanted to expand beyond that, more Ts in different solid colors. Maybe (gasp!) a V-neck. Black boots for winter, black sandals for summer.

oh it reminded me of when I packed a bag because we had fires nearby-just in case we'll need to be evacuated

then of course I decided to check the instructions on what to do when evacuating-and found out that instead of worrying about my wardrobe(I was choosing it with utmost consideration lol), I should be looking for birth certificates..:)

I also read there with horror that one should shut off water, gas, something else..and called my DH that wasn't in town, all "ahhh!! ahh!! I don't know how to do things, I don't know where the switch is,ahh!! ahhh!!"

we didn't have to evacuate in the end but .I know now exactly what I'd choose:) because I chose it. Elegant pyjamas(lol! becausewho knows where we to spend the night?), my favorite outfit for every occasion-involves dark wash skinny jeans plus black top plus black a bit funky black jacket, couple flats of different colors including my favorite ones-with laces..another favorite top to go with the jeans..a shirt..beaded sandals..a dress...flip flops..cool sport/hiking pants that sit well and dry well, and water shoes(I wear them like keds)..a cashmere sweater( I think I chose pink?)..light jean jacket..autumn warmer black jacket..lemon-y yellow rain/wind coat that looks much cooler than it sounds..

Frankly-I'd gladly take more stuff as I looked at my worldly possesions and was "ah! what if it burns? what a pity!"

as for jewelry..I have several necklaces I wear a lot. So I'd take them. Them, and my most precious one-gift from my DH. The problem with it that I hold it in such high esteem I wore it only once. I should change that and wear it more. What am i waiting for, to take them with me into my coffin? It's Tahitian pearls. Three different colored pearls on a chain..

I think I didn't put it in that bag. Or did I?..

April, evacuating is one way of looking at what is truly basic in your life.

I did not consider jewelry. I wear a wear two rings every day that I don't take off. I decide on necklace or bracelet each day.

Here in So California the winter weather is moderate and spring is almost the same, except when like today it is basically a summer day. That said my “uniform” is surprisingly similiar to many of yours. For cooler days my favorite pants are dark wash ankle length jeans or slim black. Tops are 3/4 sleeve boatneck top either striped or solid, a v-neck tee, or occasionally a collared shirt. All worn with a longer cardigan. Shoes are loafers or ballet flats, occasionally sneakers. Summer, my go-to is considered resort wear. A nice lightweight fitted sundress, Tommy Bahama, Fresh Produce or another beachy brand with sandals, flats or heeled. Otherwise shorts and v-necks. Really need to improve on my summer wardrobe. Generally wear rings, and smaller drop lever-back earrings. Trying to get better about wearing my necklaces and bracelets.

    You're right, eld.

If it was urgent in our area( the fire was half an hour away still)-I'd believe I'd grab passports only..

    If I had time

There were huge fires in Haifa where my brother with family lives..they didn't even grab documents, no time, they grabbed kids-and drove away.

Luckily their building was unharmed when they could get back. Otherwise the city really suffered,,there are forests there, and when it's dry and somebody drops something..well it's basically what happenned here.

I remember being mad at them since they didn't tell me anything. I found out reading news on internet. I called my Mom in the middle of the night..hysterical..

I'd like to see how they'd react if I wouldn't let them know I'm fine in case of some natural disaster.

They don't want to worry me, I understand-but come on.

Rings don't count, in my case-I have two I never take off. Both of them are wedding bands. Lol. Different weddings..

(I was already about to take off the first one when my then younger DD mentioned to me how significant it is for her to see I still wear her Dad's band because it shows how I still appreciate years spent together. So. It stays, for indefinite time..)))

They're very simple wedding bands. Each one was the cheapest in the store. but I like them. I like them because one is red gold and another is white gold. And, well, because of obvious reasons. If you wear something for years, never take them off your fingers. They become part of you. You don't feel them being rings anymore.

Otherwise I don't wear rings(even though I have some..MIL, especially, loves jewelry and that's what she chooses to give as a gift, both from her collection and new)..they always somehow catch on something.

I pierced my ears when I was 17, but I wasn't big on wearing earrings so in time it all went away. So no earrings. I enjoy chosing them for my Mom and DD, from time to time. My Mom especially loves earrings.

(btw I think I stuck a painting in that bag too. Lol. That was also very smart of me..shining example of great packing of first neccessities..)) Well medicines I obviously took. Passports. wasn't completely clueless. Just 75% clueless..)
