Pros and cons of ovens and range being separate or one appliance
Comments (11)I like the looks of wall ovens + separate cooktop plus they are easier to keep clean With the slide in stove units, there are always spaces on each side and those narrow spaces seem to attract little food particles. Drop in units are better, than slide in units, as they eliminate the spaces. I like 2 ovens although I do not often use oven #2. I've also seen a cooktop and a separate oven underneath the cooktop: gives the appearance of a drop in or slide in but looks snazzier....See MoreOVER-THE-RANGE MICROWAVE DOOR CRACKED
Comments (15)I'm not a fan of the OTR microwaves in the slightest. Having to reach up to remove potentially very hot items from such a height doesn't make sense to me. Nor does having a ventilation system built around a big box. Take a straw and blow on your open hand, then bend the straw as if it were a box corner and see how much air you can then move. However, you are limited for space, and it's very unlikely that your tiled backsplash extends high enough with the OTR removed to maintain the esthetics of your kitchen. So I'd recommend a Panasonic Genius, if they're available where you live. You could also research and maybe find a convection OTR microwave, that would essentially give you a second oven. The best pointers I've ever heard were to buy an OTR based upon the brightness of the lights over the cooking area, and to turn the fan on just before the fridge or pantry door is opened, to create a breeze that will aid in the kitchen air exchange when the actual cooking begins. Good luck with your dilemma....See MorePros and cons of microwave drawer please!
Comments (42)I have never understood why it has become so popular to mount these microwaves above the stovetop. It is very high for safety and ease of use and it imposes on the space above the stovetop. I did not opt to do that when I redid my kitchen. Instead, I had a small one on an under the counter shelf. When that one broke, I never replaced it and have no microwave now. I do not miss it at all---not one bit. I really only used to bake potatoes and warm up the occasional something. I never actually cooked in it. It was always a pain to clean. I will bet that many do not actually use it to really cook anything as it does such a lousy job of that. I can heat something in a small iron skillet on the stove just as fast. Since when did it become almost a requirement to have one? I really don't miss it---really....See MoreIs it possible to remove 'Fan' feature in Over the range microwave ?
Comments (12)@krishna chinta Ge Profile has one, exactly as you need , counter top with optional trim kit for 30 inch oven :links for both below. That replacement issue you mention should be considered now with this suite you are planning.......if it's hard to find now...how hard may later be? Lots of very "fashionable" appliances have come .
