New Medallion color Sea Salt

last modified: 7 years ago

Has anyone installed the newer “sea salt” color? We were going to pick Medallion’s ever popular “white icing” but chose sea salt because it’s a bit brighter. It’s hard to find photos online because it’s so new. Looking for kitchens that have it!

Not familiar with what you're talking about. I know sea salt as a paint color, but apparently you're talking about appliances. Not sure here.

I looked at both sea salt and white icing and chose white icing so I can't help you much with pictures. Medallion has pictures of kitchens with sea salt in their catalog (you may have already seen it but I am posting it just in case -- look at catalog pages 52-53 & 101):

I will say, however, that online pictures are not as helpful as you would think -- lighting and other colors in the room can dramatically affect how color appears. I would make sure to compare a sea salt door with samples of other selections you want to make in the lighting of your own kitchen.

How long will you be in the home? For resale you'd be better off with white for the cabinets. If this is where you plan to die, go for what you love and hope your tastes don't change in the future.

I have this same question and am curious which you choose? I’m leaning towards the sea salt.

Laura, we went with sea salt! I love the color! It’s a nice bright white. No regrets choosing this color.

I'm struggling with the same decision. Are your kitchen floors dark? Was Magnolia Classic ever in question? We've gutted the entire house so I dont have any other kitchen colors to pair it with.

Hi Jessica, our floors are indeed dark! This was soon after our kitchen was finished- disregard the missing stool and outdated island pendants ;) I’ll try to find other photos of the cabinet color. We went with sea salt snd LOVE THEM!

What color/stone are the counter tops? I am getting sea salt medallion cabinets and having a hard time finding a marble looking counter top in which the white has the same undertone and is not too off-white or gray.

Hi Leslie, these are called ”Super White” quartzite. We also got them in a leathered finish, so instead of having a polished look, they have a bit of texture to them. You can feel the veining on the stone when you run your hands along the top. We LOVE them! They are very durable and low maintenance. We don’t baby them (we have 3 young children), and they have held up beautifully!! This was the stone we kept coming back to over and over, and I have no regrets going with it.

Jessica, just seeing your comment- thank you for the compliment about the island. I considered going with a light gray island, but happy I ultimately stuck with the white. I don’t think you can go wrong with either choice! Good luck with your new kitchen, I bet it’ll be beautiful!

Thanks for your answer about the countertops. The super white quartzite I have seen is quite gray - would you consider your counters to be gray?

I noticed that too when we originally started looking and I specifically waited until I found a lighter slab (our counter fabricator was hugely helpful with this). I really wanted the lightest shade I could find. We needed 2 full slabs for our kitchen and luckily they had 2 almost identical ones. I would say some parts of our countertops are definitely darker shades of gray than in other parts, but it’s not too dark. The cabinets are bright white, as is our backsplash, and our hardwood floors are dark. I think it gives a nice balance. I’ll attach a closer pic of our island, hope that helps.
