Help with updating kitchen, paint all cabinets, paint island only?

Hello! I have builder grade maple cabinets, in descent condition. Just replaced counter to fantasy brown quartzite and love it. Debate is, do I paint cabinets? Here I have BM Dove Wing (lighter) and BM Bruxton White (darker) . I love depth and am afraid to go too light that I will hate it. Island I want a dark gray regardless of what I do with rest of cabinets. I have even considered dark gray on all cabinets and lighter on island.

Tiles are just some subway option small is Sonoma Stellar Rainstorm crackle (might try lighter) and larger is ADEX Nature Smoke. Both of those are up for change if I come up with color scheme for cabinets that I love.

NOTE: GE Café stainless appliances on order and floor is getting refinished too, Jacobean or dark gray mix.

ADVICE PLEASE!!

I prefer contrast, and I think the darker gray will provide that against the countertops. It would help if you provided a photo of the island and cabinets, so the overall effect of what you are considering can be assessed. Right now, it sounds like you want light countertops, darker cabinets, still darker island, and very dark flooring. Correct?

Wonderful choice of granite; it's a stunner. How about light grey for perimeter cabinets and dark grey for island, to give it visual "weight". Make sure you're installing LED undercabinet lighting, mounted to the front of the uppers, with a color temperature of at least 3000 (so it doesn't go yellow) to show off the tops and make the kitchen sparkle. Good luck!

A bigger view photo if your kitchen would help. I have to agree with k Lawrence, it seems like too much grey. I would definitely reconsider staining your floors grey and reconsider painting those cabinets, especially in grey... it’s on its way out of style.

no gray. not those anyway. too blue next to your floors. do them in White dove,,,you can do the island in a light gray, like they did here, and left the other cabs in the wood.

other Fan. Bro. kitchens White looks much better.

    Thanks for all your input!

To clarify when I said darker I meant darker than white, Bruxton white BM is darker than White Dove, its the darker shade I painted on back splash as sample.

The color for the island is not blue, bad photo. Paint swatch is KendalL Charcoal HC-166, Amherst Gray HC-167 and Chelsea Gray-HC-168. I am currently leaning toward BM Stone Harbor 2111-50 or Gray Huskie AC-26 for perimeter cabinets, light subway backsplash and dark gray of one listed on island.

Agree , no gray floor, Jacobean or walnut

I need weight in room, as cabinets surround entire kitchen. I attached some inspiration photos. Not concerned about trendy as long as I am happy, its paint.

Here is current kitchen status post rib fest mess, and paint swatches everywhere.

It is basically a U shape open to family room.

Obviously all walls are being repainted and light fixtures will get changed out.

Regardless of what you decide I would not change your beautiful floors.

I think if you change out light fixtures, get lighter stools and consider putting in a hood and move the microwave would do wonders and highlight your beautiful counters. a simple backsplash would complete the look. I think painting the island would look nice but I would keep the cabinets as is.
