Fireplace with windows on each side- what would you do in the space?

Our floors are lighter and wall color different, but this is the spec house we chose and are building. Maybe shelves under the windows? We don’t plan on putting the tv over the fireplace.
Any ideas or thoughts? Thank you!

Chairs on either side will fill the space nicely. Perhaps relaxed Roman blinds.

I think a painting and a couple of wall sconces would look nice above the fireplace.

a nice piece of artwork over the fireplace - and draperies on the outer edge of each window, covering the trim to the wall to soften the space and frame the wall.

Art above fireplace & Roman shades on the windows. I would keep it simple.

Definitely some window seats as Virgil says...my initial thought. If you could have them constructed with all wood, and place hinges on the 'seat' you would have storage tooo. That said, they do have alot of nice stools one can buy and purchasing a matching set of rectangular stools in a pretty cushioned covered water color style fabric, or tiny plaid or pattern, might be less expensive and certainly more portable for extra seating in the room if needed. Maybe you could have a pair reupholstered to match any fabric Roman Shades or Valance you might put on your windows even? A painting is fun, but so is a vintage mirror with the silver backing a bit golden and speckled in time, if you can find one the right size...It should probably go to the top of the window frames on each side,-- and with all the rectangles, a round mirror would be nice. If you can't find vintage...you can maybe make one look that way ---or you can focus on the frame and get with a Mother of Pearl frame, and use a bit of real or faux, Mother Of Pearl tiles on your fireplace(if the contractor has variables). The world is your oyster, just what makes your family feel good in such a pretty space. Many options abound. This post will likely draw a ton of good ideas!

I am not personally a fan of built-in benches for a couple reasons including they automatically create another thing to try and furnish/design around - in this space you are already considering a fireplace, windows, I would not add more. I do like the idea however of some nice small benches or chairs in a pretty fabric that can be re-positioned as you desire. I would try and make a little "reading nook" in the corner where are two windows.

Thank you all. So many wonderful ideas! There are some awesome local woodworkers I have saved to do built-ins throughout the house once it’s finished.

Go to the finest art gallery within 100 miles of you. Find the painting that speaks to your heart. Buy it and hang it over your fireplace mantle. Do not install wall sconces, they will not justify the painting. Personally I prefer representational oil paintings (Virgil may not agree).

I would not put in bench seats. It makes no sense to me that someone would sit next to the fireplace in front of a window. I would do your window treatments (whatever that is going to be understanding you don't want drapery panels too close to a fireplace for safety reasons), and then I would hang your art work over the mantel and move on. If you were going to do anything more, then I would get matching pieces of furniture to place in front of each window (it's fine they cover up the bottom portion of the window) and then continue on with the other things I said above (window treatments and decorating mantel).

I definitely vote for chairs flanking the fireplace -- it's a classic that works. Whether it's a lamp on a small table, a swag light hanging down, or whatever else, be sure that each chair has ample lighting.

It looks like the cable hook up is on the left wall, so the TV looks like it would go there over a console. You could easily do a set up like this one we did for a client below.

I would use a samesung art tv, or a flip tv (art in one side, slept over to TV). I have each in my homes & love them.

The art tv is great. Tons of classic, modern & photographic art. Or you can use u tube for seasonal scenes w lovely music in the background, waves. Etc.

Place narrow plants beside the fireplace.
