Is this chandelier too fancy for our dining room?

We just purchased this chandelier from Overstock after I saw it in person in a local furniture store. I absolutely love it, but I'm just not sure if it's suited for our dining room. Our dining room table is more coastal and I'm just afraid it's a little too glamorous..flashy? for the area (living room is open right next to it.

Take in mind the picture on the wall is going down (possibly adding cathedral window pane) and the decor on the table will change. Will possibly add rug. Do you think with the right decor I can tie it all in together?

This is our living room right next to it. It's an open floor plan and there's a Florida room right next to the dining room too that will be remodeled.

Living room just got an update so I don't have a coffee table or throw pillows yet.

I’d say empire Chandy doesn’t go with casual dining furniture,

I think it looks too small for the room

Empire! I could not remember the name for this type of chandelier. Thanks! I have seen these inspo pics that looked pretty interesting.

Love your living room — colors, chandelier, all!!

This may be a little “outside the envelope”, but it’s definitely unique and gives off a coastal vibe. Round bulbs and maybe wrapped chains with some sort of flexible grass?

Yes outside my comfort zone, but I do like the idea of a white chandelier. ;)

When you change the art on the wall, choose art that helps create the coastal vibe you seek and choose a new frame that will coordinate well with your new light.

The fixture appears to be too small for the room. Also it is too formal for the current décor.....but it's your home and if you are comfortable with it-love and enjoy!!!

It’s not the shape. It’s the under size and the crystal. Empire made of beads or shells or wire-no beading would likely work.

I like it. It is formal but I like a mix. If anything, the light could stand to be larger but I still think it works.

Ahh what a tough decision...I do love it, but that's the thing I'm not 100% comfortable with it. It is a little formal and I'm trying to justify that it's not really, so I don't have to have my husband take it down and ship it back lol. I could certainly live with it if for some reason Overstock gives us issues, (there was a slight defect as it was) but when I buy something I have to love it. I thought it would work before it was up.

I'd try transitional with a bit of crystal...

Yes, chandelier is too small, but if you like it that's what's important

I might try swapping LR/DR light fixtures

In all the inspiration pictures you posted, the rooms are very rustic, casual, farmhouse style, so the “fancy” chandelier is a complementary juxtaposition. Your room is much more transitional so it does read a little fancy, but you can definitely make it work by layering in some additional rustic decor to achieve the look in your inspiration pictures. I will say the scale of it does seem slightly too small, as does the artwork on the wall, but it’s a beautiful piece . Have you thought about adding some complementary artwork on either side of the main piece? Or possibly some sconces on either side of the artwork?

I agree that it's too small and a bit too formal for your space. If you're going for a coastal look, it's hard to beat a capiz shell chandelier, IMO.

Oh I don’t know, I kind of like it. It’s just too new looking; but nothing some paint can’t fix! Then get another one cause you like it so much!

Neat where can I find an app that will let me do what you just did Lynartist? Lol

I just edited this post because I convinced my husband it needs to go. I'm just not happy with it in the room. The return has just been initiated and now I'm on the hunt once more. As far as decor, I really love window pane decor, especially cathedral. Will that work? Maybe two, or one in the middle and something different on both sides?

For centerpiece a few options that popped in my head are

    * A centerpiece with green in it? topiary.

    * Urn with green leafery and lemons.

    * Clear vase with flowers

I'm not even ready to think about a rug yet lol.

A few pics, not actual options just to show you what I have in mind:

The first inspiration pic you posted looks great, but there are three and the metal is antiqued/aged. I think that is why yours is not giving the same effect. I also agree that it looks too small. Your third inspiration pic is really pretty and appears to be the right scale. I love your relaxed coastal style.

We did look up good measurements for a chandelier, and felt this one would work. I can see a little how it may look small, but the dining room is actually quite small and leads into the living room (open floor plan). Also didn't think it would look great if it rivalved the big chandelier in the living room in regards to size.

FJ, I just use the tool on the Houzz app to insert things in your photo. I added these mirrors from Uttermost to your space. I think getting a different chandelier is a good idea at this point.

The chandelier itself looks too small, however if you added another or got a bigger size it might work. You would need to add a little more styling to your dining room to make it like the others posted though.
