That spout looks awfully small in proportion to the bathtub. I wonder how long it would take to fill the tub?

Nobody can advise this. Depends the tub and inches from the wall and reach necessary... A free standing tub b.t.w should NOT be close enough to a wall to even use a wall mount faucet, so that is really the first issue. This is why these tubs use floor mounted fillers. Even those will depend on the tub itself.

Just because someone photographed bad design, does not make the bad design good. Ala your inspiration photo. I want to meet the MAID. who mops the floor.

The things that end up on the internet are often poor ideas that should not be copied. Unless you want to win the he World’s Dumbest Video Challenge and collect on your life insurance at the same time?

You can electrocute yourself getting in the tub and it’ll take 2 hours to fill up enough to cover the body. Then whomever has to clean up the crime scene will just have to leave the mess because there’s no access to get to it.

There are plenty of lovely examples of wall-mounted faucets with free-standing tubs. Perhaps the one posted is not the best example.

Most tub fillers used for free-standing tubs have the option to purchase accompanying hardware for floor, deck, or wall mount. The wall mount hardware may have the option of purchasing an extender to stand out from the wall a couple more inches. How quickly a faucet fills a tub is based on the gallons per minute (GPM) of the particular faucet.

An example is the Rohl tub filler I bought to go with my clawfoot tub, which has the option of floor, deck, or wall mount. Mine will be wall mounted with an extender because I prefer the cleaner look of plumbing in the wall. My tub will be only a bit closer to the wall than with a floor mount, plus it saves about $1K by not buying a floor mount. A regular quick swiffering between the wall and the tub should keep the area clean enough with the very occasional deeper cleaning (no kids or pets will be using the tub).

If you find something you like, be sure to ask your contractor or plumber if it will work with your particular tub. Reach is definitely an issue to double check. Good luck!

I prefer a wall mount filler for a freestanding tub. It's a cleaner look, an easier install, and not as expensive as those busy-looking floor mount tub fillers. There are plenty of wall mounts on build.com. Here is the Newport Brass model I got for my tub: East Linear Wall Mounted Roman Tub Faucet Trim with Metal Cross Handles

Just make sure that: 1) you get a long enough spout so that the water doesn't splash high up on the inner tub wall as this can cause water to splash out of the tub, and 2) that you check the flow rate specs for the faucets you are interested in since you don't want to spend 20-30 minutes filling the tub with a low volume tub filler.
