The rug in this image would be perfect.

At last! A sectional that is not 10x too small for room. A bold print w/orange predominating would create a warm atmosphere. A print w/mainly navy blue would create a cool room. Either would be very nice.

Something other than more gray!

Gray is by definition a neutral. The abundance of natural light in your room ensures the room doesn't feel dreary, so add any pop of color should look great in the room. Orange, yellow and teal are examples of pick-me-up color.....have fun with the room.

Pick the area rug first and then the chair.

Pretty room but like you said, it’s lacking color. Gray is a neutral and looks great with almost any color, so I would use something with a print that embraces colors that you can use to set the stage for the rest of the room.
