Are you quilting this US Memorial Day weekend? May 26-28

Hello quilters! Are you quilting this weekend? We are planning a cookout on Sunday at DD's house but the rest of the time I plan to quilt!

I am loving my new quilting machine and frame. I put a baby panel on it with a flannel backing to practice and get familiar with using the machine. It turned out very nice and I plan to bind it and give it to Mothers 2 B through my quilt guild.

I also quilted a small wall hanging (15" square) with straight lines using my channel locks. I think I would have been happier with the results if I had used my other machine and a walking foot. Oh well, it was a practice piece. I have also completed quilting my "On Ringo Lake" mystery quilt. Today I tidied up my sewing room and made binding for these quilts. NowI am loading my mystery quilt from a couple years ago, "Grand Illusion", another Bonnie Hunter quilt.

I'm loving this machine! I have only been doing free motion quilting to get the feel for the speed regulator and bigger machine. The mystery quilts have so many tiny pieces that more complicated patterns would get lost on them anyway.

What are you doing this holiday weekend?

Yes, I hope to have 5 quilts for 5 cousins by June 3rd. Keeping my fingers crossed that I get them done,

I plan to load a quilt on the frame tomorrow. I have not done that in a while and the tops are piling up. I sat this evening and sorted some strings and scraps.

I do hope to do some sewing, but have to work today, then work on wedding decorations before anything else.

I'm working on 2 throws that are exactly alike named Oriental Harmony. I plan to get the top finished this weekend. The fabric is gorgeous. I'd like to quilt it myself, but my skills are limited past the walking foot. I think it needs more than straight lines. However, I'm not willing to pay 4 cents an inch for custom quilting, so I'm not sure where I'm going from here. I may post for suggestions.

We are taking our Moms to the airport tomorrow - they have been with us since May 10. Good visit. I have been helping my mom with a couple quilts while they were here and she is leaving one for me to finish up for her. DS has the flu and DIL is a teacher and HS graduations are this weekend so she is busy with school activities so we have also had our DGD here today and overnight. Tomorrow after we get home from the airport, I hope to spend time in the yard and then behind the sewing machine before I collapse!

You have been busy! With all the rain from Alberto we are supposed to be getting tomorrow, I should have an opportunity to sequester myself in my sewing space. Not sure what I'll work on, but if I do get in there, I need to think about a baby quilt for my newest grand-niece who arrives some time in October.

I think she deserves more than one hug! What a treasure she is and what she has gifted you.

Linda, so glad you are enjoying your new machine. I must admit they seem overwhelming to me, and I consider myself pretty bold. Wish I had the nerve to buy one.

Jackie, what a blessing form your Aunt! I'm glad everything went to someone who will really appreciate it.

Probably no quilting for me. I'm wearing myself out gardening each day. I almost got carried away and started a quilt yesterday for an open house this Saturday, but common sense prevailed and I'm writing a check.

Wow, Jackie, what a gift! As far as the quilts - check out the American Quilting Society website. You can most likely find a certified quilt appraiser near you.
