Ok I will get this one.

Which area rugs looks nice in family room? Please advice.

    The second.

    Ok then it’s done.
Hello I just put the new rug. Please suggest how is this looking. Thanks.

It looks great! It works with your furniture and your console.

Any chance I could talk you into moving the t.v. over the console so you could add some wonderful art above your fireplace?

Let’s do some curtains and side lamps, and wall art. The problem is Fireplace has all the in wall connections for TV and speakers. Also I am looking for sofa table. Thanks
  • 7 years ago

Katinparadise, I suggested that way up in the thread and was ignored. I agree with you wholeheartedly.

Hopefully OP will heed our suggestion tagan! The landscape they have on the console would be beautiful over the fireplace.

OP, those aren't difficult to have moved. It's a shame to take away from such a pretty focal point as your fireplace with a t.v. It's also not good for your neck to have the t.v. so high up.

As far as curtains, perhaps something close to the wall color with a soft geometric pattern in the same color as your sofa. These that you posted earlier could work. Let's see if Beth agrees!

I think it's time to bring in a little more color and texture. What do you think of these table lamps?

I think your rug choice was perfect! What about one of these, or something similar, for curtains:

Also, I actually think the black and white chairs would be an interesting addition to the room and would help make sense of all the black speakers. They definitely change the vibe though and certainly wouldn't pair well with any of my curtain suggestions.

Friends the tv on fireplace is just opposite to kitchen. My wife can watch tv.

Sunli,,,rug looks perfect. maybe scoot it back from the fireplace a bit. push it more under the sofa. It may be a tad too large. try moving it back about 10" or so. it's ok if it goes under the both sofas. (did they have a smaller size in this color?)

I have to find out for smaller size. I know we have to find for my eating area.
Does any of these looks ok.

Sunli,,,again,,,no navy blue. doesn't have to be all teal,,you could do a yellow tone, or gray, or black/white, or soft orange or rust,,,,but no navy next to the green/blue sofa.

no navy in the curtains, the rug, the lamps,,,etc. OK? it doesn't work w/your tone teal blue/green color. just because it's blue, doesn't mean it's going to work w/your room.

    see?

Ok I got it. I will look in to it. Thanks again

sunli,,,,a few things,,take a pic of that room with good daylight. Or, see if you can replace your bulbs w/a cooler bulb,,maybe something in the 4000K range or above. the ones you have in the pic cast a yellow light. so I grabbed this other pic that shows the truer color of your couch.

here are 3 lamps I found at lamps plus. they all have teal and other accent colors. see how much better they look than the navy?

now you'll bring in accent colors w/the pillows. if you did the right lamp, bring in some rust or caramel/burnt orange accents.

the middle lamp, try some peacock green colors, etc. even gold is a pretty color w/teal.

here are rooms w/teal colors and accents so you get an idea.

here are some color palettes for you to look at...

    gold/grays/whites/yellow/teal

3 diff kinds of drapes. the far left is Pier 1 (96" long)

    https://www.pier1.com/seasons-paisley-teal-96%22-grommet-curtain/3091482.html

this is another color combo you could use. bring in the grays and blacks, alongs w/the light and dark teal colors

I hop this gives you a direction on what colors/schemes to choose from. As you can see, you have a few options. just decide what direction you want the coordinating colors to take you and go from there. You rug and sofa are the neutral teal element. you can still go in any direction w/those two items.

some chair and decor options from Pier one. (not all go together!,,I'm just throwing out some options. I would try and do a chair or the drapes w/some different colors that coordinate w/the sofa)

Beth Below are pic in day light. Please look at these. Thanks.

Beth has given you great advice. I saw all those lamps at Lamps Plus myself Beth. I've ordered from them before and have been happy. They also have free returns. I think it's time to bring a little bit of warmth into the room with some warmer colors as Beth suggested. That's why I posted the lamp I did. Rust, orange, caramel. You need to balance out the cool colors.

Ok Katinparadise. I will look in to it. Beth gave me nice direction to think.
I found these in Pier 1. Let me know how they look
  • 7 years ago
    How this will look

I would concentrate on lamps first. Doing one thing at a time will help the room come together more cohesively than trying to find everything at once. You're on the right track with colors though!

Ok got it. Which one ?

agree w/katinparadise. before accessories, get your drapes, the lighting, maybe some pillows. I do like that console in pier 1 you pictured. is it larger than the one you currently have?

i like the vase on the table w/the branches. that's a nice accent if you know where you want to put it. the branches are a nice warm neutral that will bring in a little warmth. don't start piling up on the accessories tho.

i like the Lamps Plus lamps better than those you've pictured.

Ok what about these pillows. Also advice me on lamps.

i did advise you. I said I liked the ones from Lamp Plus better. if you like the ones in your picture, then pick one you like.

pillows are nice,,,,either one will go. pick the color you most want to accent with.

Ok. I got these pillows. How are these.

they add some nice color. instead of the yellow w/the rust ones, I'd pick more of a gold color. don't know if I care for that shade of yellow w/that sofa. and the flower pillows,,,color is ok,,but the print doesn't really do anything for your sofa. you need some different textures,,,

    these would work better:

Here are some groupings of colors. some of these are pier 1 and some are bed bath and beyond,,,some are I don't know! but see how the grouping of colors and patterns are better than just a yellow, and orange/white. Some are velvet, cotton, ribbed material, shiny material,,,,all a little different.

now bring in the drapes w/one of those colors,,,maybe a lamp w/the teal and rust color,,,,maybe a teal throw for over the arm or back of the sofa.

some artwork w/a lot of those colors would be pretty on the wall right behind that sofa.

size-wise,,the picture should be 2/3 the size of the sofa.

anything w/these blues, rust colors, some blue greens, grays, etc,,,

I don't have an exact picture match for you,,,just trying to show you the idea of colors. you want to bring some life and color into the room. just make sure the picture has your colors somewhere in the artwork.

    Hello!
I just bought a new built condo and am trying to rid myself of the mixture of furniture from a past divorce and remarriage. I want a beautiful, elegant, grown-up look with a warm feel. Can you help? I've found lots of great things on Houzz, Wayfair, Pier1, but I feel like it's getting out of control and I'm overwhelmed. The pics are where I was a few weeks ago. I've picked out my draperies, area rugs and a few pieces of art/accessories. I'll add another comment to show where I am now. Did I mention that I just had brain surgery three weeks ago? I really, really need help! Lol.
    Thanks in advance.
    Oooops.
I thought I was starting a new thread, sorry. I love what you did for Sunil. Great job!!
Now for my brain to figure out how to start a new thread.
Thank you Beth for nice color ideas. I am going to return my pillows
  • 7 years ago

I'm glad you're returning the pillows. They don't do much for the sofa-they're a bit too casual. Here are a couple more I think could work.

I would do two of the clay with 1 stripe on one sofa and and maybe two gold on the other sofa and call it good.

    Will these looks ok
    I think this matches good.

That last pair you pictured has potential.

How about these. I didn’t find some gold or rust.

I like the two in your first pic, and then pic 2 and 3. don't like the last one that much,,,and the first one is nice, but kind of sedate and blah. it's pretty, and it matches,,,but it's very neutral looking. if that's the look you want, then it will work. if you want some color accent, then go w/the middle two and the gold tones. grab a few in velvet if you find it.

We are inclined towards this one. Is it ok. What other pillow can go with these. Want to do 2 of these and 1 another on one sofa. Thanks.

looking good sunil. just get what you like. Something that fits the space. colors don't have to be exact. once you get the drapes, the room will be done! (maybe do a tall plant in the corner by the window)

Beth I really appreciate your help from the day one. I am getting those solid blue chairs which you recommended. Do you think I need rug for eating area or it can be just hardwood floor. Much appreciated.

I think you could get by w/just the wood. try it first and see how it looks. take a pic once you have everything in place. you've done well!
