Looks like a buffet or sideboard to me. With a distressed/shabby chic-faux finish.

It is a buffet. If it was in the living room it would be called a sideboard. I hope you didn't pay too much for it. I love the style and lines, but it is a really bad job of distressing. I would repaint it.

A pair of tall slender lamps and some decorative items. A low flower arrangement (real is better than faux), a live orchid or other plant if you have enough light, a tray or basket. The type and style of items you put on it would depend somewhat on the style of other items in the room.
