You could make jam out of them. Mine were just planted this spring so I can’t give an opinion but from other threads I’ve seen they get mixed reviews for taste but very easy to grow

This seems obvious, but are you allowing them to become fully ripe before harvesting?

Honeyberry tastes like little sacs of vinegar.

The only way to eat them is to douse them with sugar and make jam or pies.

Do you really find them easier to grow than blueberries? My honeyberries are a magnet for leaf roller caterpillars, they get some sort of rusty sunburn and are extremely susceptible to powdery mildew.

I tasted some at an unusual fruiting tasting event we had a number of years ago at Swanson's, Klark. I didn't find them particularly appealing but then I am not a fan of fresh blueberries either - much prefer them cooked. But they were not astringently tart. And it was quite a bit later in the year so I do wonder if perhaps these are not yet fully ripe.........??

My wife makes great jam so we may try that next. The berries are very blue, juicy and tender, so I cant help but try a couple every few days, but they aren't improving.

They do grow easily for me compared to blueberries. A few worms "web" leaves together and feed inside but most of my shrubs have some of those. Other than that I've had no problems growing honeyberry in Cascadia.

I've had health problems lately and I wasn't able to keep up with watering the blueberries last season --although they received at least one good watering each week-- and as a result four of my 25 plants nearly died. No flowers on those plants this spring and by the looks of them it will be years before they recover and produce again. Meanwhile the honeyberries grew like crazy.

So far I'm not impressed with mine. I'm ok with tart flavors, love my tart cherries and gooseberries but I find the honeyberries inedible. This is their 4th year and I plan on letting them stay on the Bush a month past turning blue this time. If I don't like them I'll tear them out and buy some more gooseberries or something.
