Channel or Channel Bevel: which siding is best for my exterior?

I would like to finish my house with channel cut siding, but my contractor is insisting that I need channel bevel so that the rain runs off my house. How can I convince him otherwise?
He went to far as to ignore my request for channel and installed channel bevel instead for a sample:
Is there any way I can convince him to install channel instead? The material is fire-treated pine 8" and I live in Northern California
