windstorm window woes

After working my butt off to get a quote on Milgard Tuscany, it seems they don't do a DP test, so I cant use them in a windstorm area. Most people around here use ply-gem, or Jen-weld windows, or better yet, Window World. I am TRYING to get a higher quality window, but man is it hard. we have 27 windows, all single hung (or double if that's all that's available). I prefer dark exterior (bronze perhaps) and white interior. I don't have a specific budget, but less than 20k for sure.

Marvin Integrity (wood-ultrex traditional double hung) for 18k.

Waiting on Anderson 400 Quote.

Milgard Hermosa 15k.

Apparently the Hermosa line is brand new and only available in Texas. Anyone have any thoughts or opinions on this? Other brands or lines I should look into? My architect and builders (haven't hired one yet, but did ask in interviews) use what is typical in this area.

Is Marvin Integrity considered quality? I hear praises of the Ultimates a lot, but not their lower line.

Windows are giving me more grey hairs than my children this summer.

+1 for Anderson Black/White however all openings are casements.

The Andersen 400 Woodwright should be in the $22,000 range. The 400 Tilt-Wash will be a little less but the sash has no cladding. The Ultimate DH should be in the $27,000 range.

I would use the Integrity if it meets your specification.

Small kink...engineer was using the codes from the city on our mailing address not building address (our town doesn't have a post office)....SO my options should be slightly more open, as our windstorm requirement is 110mph, not 140. AND, talked to an architectural guy at Milgard...they do a DP test, but rate them into categories. All options are on the table again. :)

And CPArtist - I looked into PGT - their closest showroom is over an hour away. They don't seem to have a very good reputation for warranty service. I was mostly looking at vinyl windows (perhaps fiberglass). which window line did you go with?
