Lovely home. This bench by Seisenberger echoes your stairs and the Clear Square Chair by Brickell gives you the aesthetic you're looking for. Would be fun to put the bench across from the 4 chairs. I like the rug you already have, but you might want to consider a cowhide rug off to the side:

I would do ghost chairs and no bench they are horrible to get in and out of , they barely work at a picnic table. If you want a rug IMo it needs to be something with color or no rug at all.

Thank you so much for your comments. Love the cowhide rug idea! The floors are a very soft maple. Had a dinning chair on rollers previously and when I sat down and rolled the floor had roller divots. Unfortunately I think I need a rug but its not right, needs more! Here is another photo angle of the dinning/living
