Nothing special about summer. We do grill outside more often.

What’s different about summer for me is canning. So there are a few gadgets. I love my canning jar funnel that lets me easily fill my jars. I am pretty fond of my jar lifter too!

Yesterday I was thinking about getting a cherry potter so I could freeze bags of cherries. It’s only a gadget I think might be useful not one I have.

Dehydrator--we love dried apples, although most apple varieties aren't ready until the fall. I like to dry cherry and plum tomatoes (they're like candy!), and yesterday my DD used one of the dehydrators to dry dill.

Crank apple peeler, for dried apples, and canning items, as localeater mentioned.

instant pot! does not heat up the kitchen. If you like fresh fruit the small specialized gadget items are fun if you can get them for a few dollars - pineapple corer/slicer, strawberry hulled, cherry pitter. Absolutely not necessary, But we eat a lot more of those fruits now. Kids like to use them, a bonus for getting fruit into them.

Summer is no different than any other time. Most gadgets and gimmicks are never very useful past the honeymoon phase of enamourment. A good santoku blade, a decent cutting board, and a 12” multi purpose pan, and I can create just about anything.

I do like my smoosh and squeeze citrus juicer though, summer or winter. I hate straining seeds through my fingers if here’s any cuts in them.

If you have a heavy duty straw, like for a sippy cup, you can use that as a cherry pitter. But I can’t ever pit enough to do anything with because I’m too busy eating them. Part of the pleasure of some produce is the seasonability. When strawberries became available year round, it sorta diluted that specialness. And their taste.

A cast iron pan, a vegetable peeler, a colander, a good sharp knife. More fresh produce in the summer - that's about the only difference.

You wouldn’t happen to be promoting a certain brand of ice cube trays, would you, Adrienne Miller?

Multiple colanders to help with washing fruits and veg. I am especially happy with the colander that fits over my sink.

There are different brands of ice cube trays? I haven't bought any in decades, because they seem to last forever. I never thought about what brand they were.

    Blender! What’s summer without gazpacho!
