Area rug and hearth

Good morning! We just moved onto a new home. I laid out my existing 9x12 area rug yesterday and here is the problem....the fireplace hearth. So, do I....see poll.

(Couch and tv stand are in place...everyrhing else is work in progress)



Cut area rug to fit around hearth
Cut over all rug into a smaller size (8x10)
