We chose comfort height in our guest bathroom, it was the first of 5 toilets we have replaced, or will replace in this home. (We still have two left to replace) I know my mom loves our comfort height toilet... but hubby and I decided we didn’t like it enough to use that height for all of our other toilets, and we are not short people. We much prefer the standard height.

Standard height is better, especially for your bowel health. That may sound goofy, but it is true. Even standard height is too tall. There is a lot of research that shows a high incidence of diverticulitis in the U.S. is probably due to the fact that our toilets are so high. By not crouching down enough, a certain muscle that needs to relax can't....so to put it indelicately.....we all work much too hard to poop. In most countries toilets are much lower so you "squat" and can correctly relax.

Okay. So enough about that lol. You can look into it more yourself if you want to.

It's your bathroom so if it's uncomfortable go with the height you find comfortable. Toilets are standard so it's not difficult to change toilets for any reason in the future including your wanting a higher toilet.

My elder friends find that grab bars are very useful though so if you are remodeling you might at least put in the necessary framing to support those in the future.

I'm short but have no problems with a comfort height toilet and I would definitely put one in any guest bathroom.
