Australis "Lizard Isle"-Anyone Else Grow it?

Hi everyone,

Does anyone else have/grow australis "Lizard Isle"? I know the Violet Barn sells it, and I got it as a cutting a few years ago from greedyghost ( GG, wherever you are, I hope you're doing well!). It hasn't grown very much for me. It's getting a lot of light (western/southwestern exposure) and humidity. Small pot. It's a cute little thing!

How has it grown for you? The photo of the flowers on VB's website are gorgeous. They're pure snow white.

Looks kind of like australis IML 006 except that 006 is fuzzy like ssp. australis. I find all the australis happily grow along if they are allowed to dry out between waterings. Not bone-dry, mind you, but more so than most Hoyas. More like kerrii. However, I'd probably give it a little more water than that until it has a nice, healthy root system. Do you grow any of the other australis?

Brad are you talking about this one? It is called Australis Lisa. Haven’t heard lizard isle in many years now.

No Dee, this one isn't variegated. It's plain green. It doesn't seem to be very commonly found aside from the Violet Barn and Taylor Greenhouses. I wish GG were still around to ask how her plant is doing.

Brad be careful of Taylor greenhouse, their plants are not correct a lot of times.

Brad, can you post a pic of the leaves of your 'Lizard Isle'? Are they smooth and shiny like ssp. tenuipes, or are they fuzzy like ssp. australis? Most of the australis' are hearty growers, so I'm surprised it hasn't grown well for you.

Denise, it's smooth and shiny like ssp. tenuipes. It doesn't have that large of a root system and I just repotted it into something a little smaller yesterday. It's obviously been getting enough light since the leaves look kinda washed out.

I gotcha. So basically treat it like it was a carnosa? I do not have any other australis, since they all like to climb and I am out of room for one that can ramble. Fungii is starting over, so I'll have her to deal with at some point (but she's one of my favorites). I do like the flowers on them. I've had ssp. tenuipes before, but they always failed on me for one reason or another (probably overwatered them).
