Do you have JS-blocking in your browser or similar?

Nope. The issue seems to be among everybody that isnt using an android phone/tablet. I checked on my and it worked. Not on my pc though.... tried with google chrome too. Have mac users saying the same thing......

Just opened the site with chrome and I see what you mean. That's really shoddy work. So try firefox if you want to see something

Maybe because its quantum or updated or idk...Unless the issue is fixed, and there are others complaining, ill be less active here....

This is a case of not testing an update before you make it live. Very unprofessional

    Well,its not like programed it.

As a daily user of a discussion thread, and as a wife of a techie who debugs things in his sleep, I can attest to the wonky behavior of the website of late, and also to a possible solution.

It helps the IT folks immensely to clearly state your issue(s), the device(s) you're using, the OS of that device, and the browser and iteration of the browser, or app and iteration of that app, so that they can more quickly target bug fixes that work.

For example, I am on a Macbook, OS X Yosemite version 10.10.5. I use Firefox Quantum 61.0.1. I clear my cache, cookies and history on a weekly basis, and still run into the following problem... (I suspect this all has to do with a "fix" that goes back to the FB fiasco and European Union privacy policies...?)

    1) When refreshing an open page on my thread or sometimes others, I get an "Oops" error message that looks like this:

Sometimes, this error message is from the US site; other times, it will appear as if it is directed from the alternative Houzz sites, ie from other countries, in other languages, not all European either. LOL If I go back to my browser, and type in the URL to the thread I want, sometimes the error message still occurs; sometimes, I can get it to load properly after one or two or three tries. It's annoying but I can get it to work.

There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to this erratic behavior.

When on my Android phone, things seem to be working fairly smoothly when I am using the Houzz app (currently updated) and also when I browse with Chrome.

Not having the problems with photos not displaying that others are complaining about, but I'm not using an ipad/iphone either.

I know of other folks who are having very glitchy experiences in the discussion threads, anyhow, and I have invited them here to share their problems too. It seems there are a lot of difficulties of late... (Another issue I have is the lack of a "central scrutinizer," where all the most current issues can be more easily shared in one place.) It appears there are already quite a few threads started on the latest round of issues... Let's keep it all here?

I use safari on my MacBook air, and can't see photos here today, either.

I use safari on my MacBook pro, and see all photos fine here today. Very strange.

    Strange... indeed.

Yep, Firefox is ok, IE is no good...both on a laptop.

Doesn't work for me in latest version of Firefox on Windows 10.

If you want a Windows browser with a smaller footprint that will work, I always have Vivaldi and MX5 on my computer, and I found a little while ago today that they work. Kind of surprised me. Why wouldn't it work on the most popular browser(s) used? I know some of those corporate types insist on developing for MS Edge, which I just checked and that worked. Or maybe they just test on mobile stuff. I don't know if that's the case here. tsugajunkie, are you using IE (not Edge) on an older version of Windows? That would be interesting to know.

I'm on a pc and using Chrome with no problem.

I'm using Chrome on my MacBook and the Houzz web site. Seems like only Houzz photos will display and not photos that are attached from the Photo tab where you just get a little box thing. On my iphone and the Houzz website, I see bigger squares where the uploaded pics should be.

Using Explorer on PC, Window 10 and no problem

I am using google chrome on a junk pc and can't see any pictures. Does anyone know how we can complain?

I have windows 10 on my PC and normally use Chrome, but just tried it with Explorer and it is the same problem.

For you who are using Windows 10, are you really using Explorer or is it Edge? It's works for me using Edge. I'm not saying you're doing anything wrong, just trying to clarify. Not that it makes any difference. >:-/

I am using Windows 7, with Chrome and can only see pics on the page that lists all the recent postings. The minute I click to open a post or if I attempt to post an image or view anyone else's pics, I only see the small white/blue box where the picture should have been. So frustrating!!!!

Hi All, if you are having trouble with the site, please first make sure you have installed all updates to your iOS and browser. If you are still not seeing photos, definitely shoot us a message through help.houzz.com (profile support) and we can help troubleshoot there. Thanks!

it started yesterday and today is the same problem..images show up only if I'm on the home page, but not if I click on the dilemma..I use Firefox (windows 10)

Emily, it seems that the majority of people don't use iOS mobile devices for the site. If you could check multiple browsers on a few different systems, the problem should show up, although for me on Windows 10 latest Firefox it seems to work since today.

Issue seems to have been fixed for me too.

just got solved for me as well

Fully updated windows 10 and fully updated firefox, and pictures come and go on it. Been a very frustrating 3 days. They are working now, so will see, if they keep working

Seems to be working now. Not sure what happened.

I am grateful that photos are now opening as they should. In fact, it seems they open bigger than before, which is wonderful. But now, another minor annoyance with the latest "fix" is that the font for the comment box, as I'm typing, is much smaller than the font size of the comments above it. Not good for these eyes.

Another is that the "like" button has become disabled, so that while you can toggle it on or off, you cannot check to see what users have hit the darn thing. GAH!

I want to see who's actively reading along, that is, who is "out there." It's not so much a "like" as an acknowledgement of a comment. It is useless to me without being able to see who has toggled it on because I use it as a response to comments made... to lose the ability to see who has "responded" will make the forum thread less functional as a mode of two-way conversation. It's less personal and less friendly, imo.

I take that back. While photos show up, now it's eating photo submissions, again. No photos posting for me on my Macbook, running Yosemite, with current Firefox browser.

Windows 10 on my PC and I can see all pics.

    Stopped working. Again.

I use IPad and Safari browser, IOS 10 , can only see comments in garden web discussions no photos? Frustrating
  • 7 years ago

That's odd, Kathy. I just popped onto my iPad4 using Safari and had no problem seeing photos in the discussions.

Paul, no problem seeing photos if they had been uploaded before the current troubles, but photos can't be uploaded now (I have Chrome, Windows 10Pro) since earlier this morning.

    I can post this.
