You say you need a 9 x 10 rug. There is no such thing. Standard sizes are 8 x 10 and 9 x 12, so which is it?

As you know, your sofas are too far apart. They should both have front feet on the rug and have access to the coffee table. If you have it this way for play, that's fine, but let's choose a rug to suit the way the room should be arranged, assuming that for company you would move the furniture to its proper position.

I will put rugs in your room if you will give me the links to them. I particularly like the one you posted about 3 hours ago, but I need a photo of it flat to put it in your space.

I actually like the fireplace stone. It's nice and neutral and a little different from the stacked stone that has pretty much run its course.

I don't think the rug is too busy as long as you don't get busy anyplace else. You'll notice the pillows I put on your sofa are both plain.

The room looks very nice. The only other things I would do (besides raising the curtains) are perhaps editing the top two shelves a bit and restyling the mantel.

Bethany, no it's not OK for the curtains not to touch the floor. You need longer curtains. Until you're ready to change them, leave them as they are.

I like the blue rug in your room. Way better than any of the pinks. I also like your current rug, but it seems a little small even if you move the sofas onto it, and it doesn't provide the pop of color you want.

I hope you'll choose a rug that has more colors than just gray and beige tones. This is your chance to have a rug that will make a statement while still working well with your gray couch. The blue rug with some brown in it that you chose which groveraxle put in your room looks perfect. It's the second rug she shows at 6:46 p.m.

Grey with a bright color is my favorite combination. The second rug you posted has a hint of that brightness if you aren't ready to commit to a strong piece yet. I also love bright teals with greys.

Walls and flooring help set the tone of the room. Choosing a rug for the current wall color limits you a bit. What about the other spaces connected to LR to create harmony. Purchasing a rug with colors and pattern that you absolutely love is important, however think of your rug as anchoring the room to get that wow factor.
