anyone know why its called burke's red??

Bettle is a word. But it's not a Beetle. :-))

I don’t Remember the details of the story, but it goes little something like this. The original seedling had been grown in an old coffee can and the needles had a unique red banding. After it was propagated the red banding did not persist but It still had the nice gold banding. Apparently the red had something to do with the soil in the old can.

this isn't lower,,,in years past I treated plant and whole branch loss stopped

just don't know if I should give another dose

don't know if you noticed I took down my ponderosa to the left,,,29 ft....man , I loved that plant

Have you checked for cankers? Pinus densiflora is quite susceptible to Cytospora and pitch canker, both of which can result in branch dieback.

As far as beetles go, isn't it the larvae that do all the damage to trees?

I'm not real sure of the point you are making :-) Pitch canker (Fusarium circinatum) is a fungal pathogen. It has no connection with any beetles........

thought pitch canker was introduced & spread by beetles
