Need advice on Wall Art placement and Size of Art

last modified: 7 years ago

We have a completely open wall to add artwork -the wall to the right of the hallway. I need assistance with size of art, shape, and appropriate placement on the wall on the right side. I'm selecting artwork that really pops since the rest of my decor is neutral, so I want to make sure I get the size and placement/balance of amount of artwork is spot on. The tv is going to be mounted on the wall on the left side taking up the entire space, so all artwork will be placed on the right side (air duct vent side). There will be no furniture placed against the wall with artwork. Thanks!

Excuse my rough photo! Are you doing a TV console? I think you could go pretty large on the art wall with one big statement piece. Look at ETSY for large art.

We are mounting a large tv to the wall, so there will not be a tv stand. Thanks!

No furniture on the wall? What is this room? Den? Open living room? I see a faucet so is there a full kitchen?

Sorry, Leelee, I meant against the wall. With my limited understanding of decorating, wall art needs to be a certain size and placement height if there's any furniture against the wall, so I wanted to let Houzzers know that it's a blank wall without any limitations of furniture height to work with. This is an open concept home. I took the picture from the kitchen looking into the living room. Thanks.

The sofa will be placed so you can watch TV...what other furniture do you have?

A bench could help anchor the art.

Or you might add a console style table with art above.

I am not looking to add any furniture. We are minimalists. Just looking for ideas on wall art placement, size and balance of art (1 piece, or more?). Thanks.

Manon Floreat - I like the way that looks. Thanks!

Center of art should be at eye level if no furniture below. 57-60" I almost think with a rectangular TV, you would want to do square, portrait, or 2 pieces.

Roughly center your art between the openings on either side and between the floor and the register.

@groveraxle I really, really like your placement of artwork with the four pieces!! Thank you very much for your input!! Would you say that the 2 smaller black and white pieces are 8x10 frames? I'm trying to figure out what size of frames and the 2 larger canvases are, so I can make this look happen! Also, do you happen to know where the floating shelf below the tv can be purchased? Or something similar? You made my morning with your help!!!

Mhub, I think that floating console was just a google image. But do check out kulrn's suggestion of Woodwaves.

I can't tell you the sizes of the art because I don't know the size of your wall. If you give me the dimensions from left to right and from the floor to the bottom of the vent, I can probably make a pretty close estimate of art sizes.

@groveraxle, I found the floating console on Amazon and it is priced right - thank you! I reviewed the measurements of our wall, and think I'm on to a great collage of art with the correct balance because of you - appreciate all your help!
