How to get more color in the garden ...

There is a way to get more color in our gardens, but no it's not with flowers.

After a dreadfully dry, long, hot summer of being 'laid up' it was mentioned in this post that I was ready for some color which wouldn't require watering! Of course, that was before the 30 inches of rain we received in four weeks which produced a LOT of green, including weed green.

However, having promised my dear long suffering, but ever helpful hubby Bob that I would cut back on plants; for sure, this time I decided to be even braver with the paint brush. This may not be everyone's cup of tea, but it's working for me!

The flowers of Canna 'pink sunburst' will be the same color of the planter. The pinkish leaves already picking it up ...

Bob helped me transplant a Dyckia 'Burgany ice' into the turquoise planter ...

I'll have to admit it took just a bit of intestinal fortitude to bite the bullet and paint the specked composite dull gray planter purple. But hey, I never liked that granite gray anyway ...

And there are two of them! ...

The row of succulents along the back of the house certainly got a lift of color ... Oops, four photos already. I'll have to continue in the next post.
