Miscanthus is now classified as a “restricted” plant!

October 15, 2018

I just came across this bit of news and it so surprised me. I used to grow quite a lot of Miscanthus cultivars and while I liked them a lot I found them too vigorous for my small garden, needing frequent division to remain an acceptable size. However, I never found any sign of seeding, which is why I was so surprised to see Miscanthus classified this way.

Apparently, most cultivars do not seed about, though they should be watched to be sure they are not reseeders. It seems it is the species which has become invasive.
