Go with Roman shades. Your space is too modern for plantation shutters and cellular shades just don't look that great.

You have lovely room, I would go with curtain panels to add some softness.

I like a Roman shade and curtain panel combo. You can use bamboo, or a neutral fabric so you don’t have to worry about "matching" them to your future decor.

I would go with blue to down tan/beige/brown.

I would not block natural light. Curtain panels are needed for softness and warmth. If blinds are not needed then don't use them.

We also haven’t quite figured out how to decorate so if we go with Roman shades, these shades probably won’t get picked out for another year, probably.

It's hard to tell from just one photo, but at least some of your windows are very close to the wall, which would make curtains an odd-looking, difficult choice without adequate room for stacking back the curtains on the side so that they don't cover up too much of the window when the curtains are open.

I'd probably go with Roman shades, but definitely decorate the room and live in the house for at least a few months before you decide. Window coverings of any sort aren't cheap.

In general, I like Roman shades or nice curtains, so here I'd suggest roman shade . (I have cellular shades in two rooms and am tired of them). Yes, if you plan to redecorate, I'd hold off and choose new window covering as part of the overall design.
