Help Find A Fabric That Works With What I've Got

Title says it all :-)

Perhaps someone can help point me to a fabric to use for a chaise I am having made for my bedroom.

At this point I will have an arm chair upholstered in the teal floral velvet material and my bed is blush mohair. The walls are a neutral warmish white (Dunn Edwards Milk Mustache) and my floor is light blonde oak.

I am planning to use a Karastan Kirman 1717 rug which my designer says will work with what I've got. It's the one everyone thinks of when you say Karastan but I'll post a picture of it.

Ideally I would love to find something that mixes the teal and blush tones but I can't find anything. I am thinking I will have an accent wall behind the bed in a chinoiserie wallpaper.

Any leads welcome.

Bed which is upholstered in blush mohair but I am having it made with lucite legs.

Arm chair is upholstered in this teal velvet floral pattern with piping in the lighter color.

Karastan Kirman which I currently own and hope to repurpose in the bedroom. My designer says it should work because the rug contains the blush and teal.

I had that rug in my dining room years ago. It is darker and richer looking than your photo.

I like it with the bed, but, sorry, I do not like that teal velvet fabric, which, I guess you own.

One velvet in the room is enough. Nor would I have chosen the light walls as a backdrop for the bed or as a color to work with the rug.

But, you already are on the road, so to speak, so I would just stick with your designer’s recommendations.

Not to be appear to be ungrateful but is there some reason you posted a comment that essentially just criticizes the design choices - what is your point?

It's the internet and soliciting advice obviously means it's a wide open place but one expects that if someone doesn't have anything helpful to post, they would not waste their time LOL.

ETA - Not that my feelings are hurt regarding my choices as I find it amusing that someone would make an effort to be completely non-responsive :-)

I wasn't planning to go with more velvet - FWIW LOL.

ETA - I don't want to go too light with the chaise because I plan to loll on it a lot and so I want the fabric to be durable - and not show the occasional bon bon flake :-)

This photo is a good illustration of what I mean. The natural linen and blush act as neutrals, with the pop of colour (how I hate that term...) coming from the blue (or in your case, teal).

Your choices? i thought your post was clear that you are working with a designer.

So, why look to houzz for another fabric? Once you do that you are undermining your designer, as I said, stay the course.

Non responsive? Nope, just not agreeing. Your designer knows what you want. Right?

Just saw your comment about not too light on the chaise. I like your reasoning :-D

In that case I would definitely go with tan leather or a tone-on-tone tan/beige print such as herringbone, hounds tooth, or buffalo check. It will still feel "light" in the room and will hide any errant crumbs!

I have no insight to provide. I love lindsey's thinking. I just wanted to say how much I love your bed and all your other choices (not mentioning because of the previous negative feedback- I would have mentioned it no matter what.) The colors are gorgeous. Very India Madahvi to me.

I love your choices, too. It’s so nice to see someone using color! I found these fabrics on fabricguru.com.

@marytouchingthepast - Thanks so much. Those are lovely - the second one seems as though it would really work - complementing the colors without being matchy matchy.

Here’s the direct link to that fabric: https://www.fabricguru.com/textured-solids/hamilton-lansing-tweed-decorator-fabric-sherbet.html

That would be a good choice if you’re going to use a chinoiserie wallpaper. I’d love to see your room when you’ve finished.

@marytouching - Not sure what it means when it says nine yards in stock as the site seems to sell remnants as well as larger quantities. If that is the entirety, I don't think it would be enough unfortunately

IMO the teal fabric and the rug do not work together. As for a chaise why not a much softer color of teal with maybe some pillows in the shades of blush and teal , do the chair in the same fabric as the bed to make it a lot easier then just a nice fluffy teal throw on the chair or scrap the rug for something else.

Have you considered using the teal velvet—intended for the chair—on the chaise, instead?

    Hi Helen-
Based on where you said you live in a comment you made on another thread, there are several stores that specialize in upholstery fabric near you. They would have lots of choices for you.

And, as I said, Helen, I have owned that rug and I have decorated with it. You are taking advice based on your photo which does not come close to representing the true colors of the rug. Take it or leave it, the teal fabric does not work.

    As lovely as marytouchingthe past’s

suggestions are, they are so far off from the rug colors which are dark and rich.

@Judy G - Again, I am not sure why you persist in offering completely unhelpful suggestions on a thread which responses are non-responsive. To be clear I was asking advice ONLY on upholstery choices for a chaise that would tie already existing fabric choices for the bed and armchair.

Your first post damned my color selections when it was clear that both the bed and the chair were fait accompli and now you decide to come back again to warn against the use of the Karastan Rug.

Perhaps I wasn't clear when I said I planned to USE the Karastan Rug rather than BUY it. I already own the rug so I am well aware of the colors and I can decide whether or not I like the combination when everything else is in - I may or may not like it for the final installation but theoretically it would go with both teal and blush as it has those colors.
