That’s a ikea ektorp sofa and loveseat which I’d like to replace with Ikea gronlid. Also what do you think of the ikea vindum rug in blue green? But the. What color of gronlid sofa?

That recliner is an eyesore and is just sticking out there should I get rid of it or move it elsewhere in the house? What about the tv, wall mount it or get an ikea besta unit to add some storage? DH has speakers that he hasn’t set up yet, we moved 2 months ago.

Carpet and drapes "cozy" a room!! Start there.

I’d be more than happy to keep my existing ikea ektorp sofa and loveseat so I could use the $$ elsewhere for decor.
But I certainly need to upgrade the slipcovers but none of the ikea slipcovers appeal to me right now. I could look at slipcovers from comfort-works but that’s not exactly cheap. Let me know what you guys think, new slipcovers for 10 year old ektorp or new gronlid sofa?

I’m thinking of getting rid of the recliner since it’s so oversized and does not really fit in with the modern simple style and the other mostly ikea pieces I have.

Yeah I am conflicted, should I go modern or vintage. Here is the room now with chairs removed and new slipcovers.

Also after measuring, l realized I need ideally a 10 by 13 rug if I want the sofa and loveseat to both be comfortably placed on the rug.

it looks like you like warm colors so that combined with the white couches looks southwestern to me. so with that i think you should have some natural looking wood

you can use the gold chair, but i don't think the pillow would be great. I would a pick a couple pillows from the ones below to bring together when mixed with yours, let me know i can toss things, give others if you have ideas which way to go.

Here are a few different rugs to maybe give you some ideas. Not knowing what color/pattern you like, so I added a variety. Hope it helps.

think you might try balancing the room. Maybe try the loveseat across from sofa.

Try locating TV in corner so it blends into the room or mount it.

If you like that yellow chair use it .. then try a few pillows with that golden yellow and burgundy in the pattern or stripe. If u want additional seating also use ikea chair.

Add a few golden pieces similar in color in chair, ie vase, flowers, art piece, statue, lamp base. this will pull the room together.

Later when you are looking for a rug, try to find something more modern, with the gold and burgundy. The room is lovely and nice job matching the sofas

The sofas are a great starting point. Use what you have. search elsewhere in your home for pieces that you require. You never know what you will find.

The ikea chair may look nice beside yellow chair, try it Bringing a room together with color will make it cozier and more interesting

If you have items in other rooms that you might consider using, post photos and we'll try and help you incorporate them enjoy yourself!! surround yourself with things you love.

Added: you might think about lowering the piece over the mantel. try grouping your pumpkins and put a few on a book to raise them up. install on one side of mantel. keep them together for more impact

you may want to try sofa on the wall across from the window and love seat on window side. good job not crowding the window, by the way. if you move the sofa, keep the loveseat away from the window (you should be able to walk behind it) more on that later. having the sofas across from each other will open up the room and say "welcome, come on in" when you put a sofa across the room it says, caution keep out. your choice on how you want the room to feel.

keep the sofa and loveseat the same distance from the fireplace sides, center them on fireplace not the room.

if you want to keep the black footstool, try your red throw folded and draped over it and/or add a woven tray similar to your beautiful basket. (the tray will act as a place for snacks/remotes etc.)

A lovely tall/and wide plant would be great behind/and to the side of the furniture on the window wall. (use a quality faux if you aren't a plant person or don't want to maintain it.)

now that you have decided on your rug, the golden chair may not work. However, the comfy recliner just might. wait to see it with your carpet. it is difficult to tell what color the recliner is.(is it in good condition?)
