what will the kitchen floor be? did you say you were re-doing the kitchen? but I don't think you said a new kitchen floor is happening? seems like the same material in this area, as the kitchen floor pick would be my choice.....have you thought of running something new throughout?

Yes ré-doing the kitchen. The kitchen floor and the small passageway are what I need help with. Hard to find something to follow on from Victorian pattern. Would like to keep hallway as has taken a long time to restore.

Knowing you are doing white cabinets and wood counters I’d suggest a black hexagon tile floor (this is a close inspiration pic). Match the grout to the black - ideally match the scale of the hall tile but it wouldn’t be bad to go smaller if you have to. Good job restoring that hall tile!

Maybe slightly darker stained oak floor..not quite as dark as the other room. Or linoleum in that blond/yellow color that I see[not sure what they call it] . Have you narrowed your options for the kitchen at all? I'd get that sorted out as it is important, then see if it can go right through this space. I'd bring home hardwood and linoleum samples..you have various colors in the detailing of the floor... you can go light/dark or inbetween..
