Warm Gray paint color for entire home - advice needed!

last modified: 7 years ago

My home is a truly All-Beige home: walls, trim, crown molding, baseboards, and ceiling are all painted the same beige color. Even my carpet is beige. Although the beige color is a pretty one, I am sick of the all -beige look and so ready to paint my entire home to get a new fresher look! I know I want to paint my entire home a WARM GRAY color, and all the trim & ceiling a WHITE color.

I like Sherwin Williams brand paint and have narrowed the WARM GRAY down to 3 colors:

1) REPOSE GRAY (SW 7015)

2) AGREEABLE GRAY (SW 7029)

3) WORLDLY GRAY (SW 7043)

My dilemma is I need to pick a WARM Gray that will go with my newly remodeled kitchen and my tile floor (see attached photos).

Since my kitchen is very dark brown (a warm color), I definitely don't want to choose the wrong gray that will clash with it.

I think my tile floor will go nice with gray walls but I decided to include a photo as well so the full picture can be seen.

Please let me know your thoughts! I really need advice on this one. Since the paint color is for my ENTIRE home, I really want to make the right choice.

Thanks in advance!

get classic gray by benjamin moore! I tried all those SW colors and they were too blue or green or dark or murky.... classic gray by BM looks almost beige on the chip but is a beautiful pale gray on my walls

Love BM classic gray but it is a very light color...as you can see in my home image above the SW Worldly Gray is light...and BM classic gray is even lighter...both great choices..

What is the rationale for painting all walls the exact same colour? I can understand a very restricted palette but only one colour on all walls throughout a home, without considering the light, function(s) and furnishings is a wasted opportunity,IME. That said, if you are determined to do so, I'd pick pick the gray that works best in yourkitchen....which is probably Worldly Gray.

Hollybar my home is all Worldly Gray...I love the calm it provides and mixes well with every accent color I have used in all the bedrooms in bedding art and accessories....light slate blues...golds....reds..it all works.......That is why I love this color..no matter if it is north south east or west lighting it just works.

Thanks to everyone for your input! Here's a photo of my tile floor. As you see, it has grey and beige in it. My carpet is a light beige.

SW Worldy Gray is one of my top choices, but I also like Repose Gray and Agreeable Gray. Does anyone have any experience with any of these colors that can give me some direction as well?

Hollybar, I understand your thinking. But I just want to keep things simple and find one neutral color for my entire home.

I do have to mention that I just remodeled my master bedroom and changed it from an all-beige look to a modern more fresh look with a SW medium gray color. The outcome was great! But aside from the master bedroom, I do plan stick to one color for the rest of the house. I am ready for a fresh look.

; ) I have Revere Pewter by Benjamin Moore throughout my house. It looks AMAZING against black as well as brown (such as in your countertops). I never tire of it. It looks great in all light. It's foolproof. Just sayin' there's a reason why decorators pick it as a top color again and again.

Before you choose, get a piece of drywall and paint a large sample to move from room to room to see how the color actually looks in your home.
