Where to begin with color and accents

Hello all! I am so happy I found this forum!I am getting ready to add pillows, accents, etc to this room. Long overdue! The room is 20 x 13, and one end serves as a music room, the other end is our living room. The art above the sofa is a black and white pencil drawing that I drew, so it has personal value but didn't help start colors. I think it is a bit high too. You can see a turquoise mid century vase, and a red floor vase and that is a about it for color. Husband really liked this rug, but no jumping off point for color here either. I am a total novice at decorating. Any help will be greatly appreciated!

The painting is way too high. I would suggest a color matte for it? Maybe in the tone of red? Or not...Indian Red or Copper? in your vase. Since you say you have red and turquoise, you must be drawn to dare I say it? Southwest colors. Do a search for rooms using those colors and tone variety, and than pick the top 3 or 4 that you like, red and turquoise, melon, or terra cotta, sage green(the lighter color) and denim(soft and dusty, light) blues, and than see what kinds of print fabrics in pillows, a throw, maybe some small fabric table accents for under your lamps?, curtains and such in the prints you like.

Thank you both. The drawing could be moved. There is a adjacent room with a similar drawing that is WAY too high! My husband thinks it is ok but I've convinced him that we should lower it, lol. Same problem, no color but a similar vase. A lot of the reason it is this way is because a lot of furnishings are new and we have been struggling with how to choose pillows, etc. need to pull it together because it is way too blah! How to you suggest vorrecting the bottom heavy look with white walls and dark furniture?

Beautiful home! I vote for lowering the artwork to bring it into the space. Turquoise or teal would liven the space....looks like you have a start. Good luck!

Thanks everyone! So I think I should pull the plug and order a few pillows, lol. Since I have modern sofas with low backs, what sizes should I get? Considering starting with turquoise, cream, maybe trying burnt orange. I'm not crazy about big patterns but I can tell that I need pattern in the room. Great help here, thanks so much!

Also, the living room chairs have black leather lumbar pillows in them already. Should I put lumbar pillows on top of the existing lumbar for color, or another shape?
