Adding borax or biz to your wash may help. I’ve never had any luck with vinegar working but you may.

Deborah, I didn't manage to soak the top today -- we woke to an overflowing toilet in the basement, which had run all night apparently, water everywhere. At least it was clean water!! Lots of time doing mop-up. Need to get a plumber, darn it (DH is not very handy around the house, sadly).

Ammonia is very effective at removing odors, but I'm not certain it wouldn't fade the red.

Ammonia shouldn't fade red but Biz might. I'd try Borax or ammonia.

Another tip is to use the hottest water that is safe for your tunic. Check the care label though it tends to usually recommend cool.

Try one of those detergents that hunters use to kill the scent in their hunting clothes. I don't have first hand experience with any of them so can't recommend one over another.

Now that I think about it, I'm going to pick up a bottle to try on our very stinky Labrador's bedding.

I like the ammonia idea. It would probably cut right through that perfume. Ammonia will leave the fabric really fresh. I’ve never seen it fad anything.
