No accent wall it just won't work well there. Maybe at most just that one staircase wall but are you sure you want to highlight that area of the home?

Agree with the other posters that an accent wall is not the answer. Staining your handrail and staircase parts with an espresso color would be a better expenditure. The honey tone of the wood as it is now competes with the gray and it also seems more dated.

Yeah, like some of you said, I don't really want to "highlight" the highlighted walls, I want it to be low-profile but it just seem to me that by painting it the same color as the rest of the wall will make the entire living room too plain... isn't it?

You can't judge the overall design yet. Of course right now the walls look plain because there is nothing else in the room. Wait until the floors are in, the furniture is in, and then decide. All you probably need is some nice art work and you'll be set
