PENDANTS OR NO PENDANTS IN KITCHEN?????

Ok...so the question is should I replace two of the recessed lights over my island with pendant lights and then do I need to match one over the kitchen table as well??? What style light would look best?
***excuse the mess....all the clutter on the island is usually not there :)

In this case I would put pendants over the island....I might not put anything over the table...but I might upgrade your window treatments. Search for the pendants first.

Considering your sink is in the island, you probably do lots of prep work, dishes, etc., there. I prefer pendant lights that provide down lighting so I can see while I'm working on those tasks at hand, like these...

I also like a pretty fixture over the dining table for ambient lighting and to define the space. Maybe something that echoes the length of your table with a linen shade for some softness...

Hello - I think adding fixtures always brings a nice touch to your space especially for how open it is. It gives it a nice visual when you look in that direction. You have a very nice set up to go very transitional/clean lines and with color if you want to. I would start you off with something simple and see if you like it. If you had certain color hardware finish i would go off of that but everything looks like it is silver/chrome. So a bronze/black finish is a nice neutral to go with. See my examples below. For size wise for the fixtures, it will all depend on the size of your table and your island. Good luck!

I wouldn't do pendants over the island. You don't need the light, so why do you want it? I like the clean look in this room and I don't think you should add to the visual clutter...

I would do a chandelier over the table, as it would bring attention to the bump out...

    Def pendants over the island.

So the kitchen table has the two recessed lights. Would I hang a chandelier between them? Was hoping to just use a conversion kit and go from there. As for the island I have plenty of light as u can see from the picture. Theres 7-8 cans maybe more in the kitchen. I just like the look of pendants. Im always drawn to them when I see kitchens. I like the modernish look of the globe pendants and would prob do a brushed satin finish as I am planning on adding hardware to cabinets in same finish.

I also have another thread going about changing my entryway chandelier and the one by my stairs. If anyone wants to take a look at that I would love feedback! Thanks so much!!

IMO, your room has all for a good style, the tileson kitchen's wall, the cjmbination of wooden and navy colors in furniture, and pendants would add a final touch and complete the view. I would prefer these well-known pendants, I mean shapes. And also I proposed Tom Dixon's designs to make a space "on the edge" design, very stylish. I have a good feeling from island color, and dark chairs sing their song with darker pendants. What do You tthink? Regards!

Yes...to do a proper job, you would need to hang it central to the table...sorry!

Normally, I, too, like the look of pendants...but you have three doorways, space above your cabinets, a mosaic backsplash, many recessed lights, and a contrasting color island. It's a lot for the eye to take in and it seems as if you're trying for ALL of the trends... Adding to all of that would be, in my opinion, too much. In your case, a cleaner look is better.

Perhaps, down the line aways, you could consider a more streamlined backsplash and pendants?
