Sealing obsolete floor vents

December 3, 2018

A new HVAC system in the house we just purchased (ceiling vents) has made all the old vents in the floors obsolete / non-functioning.

What's the solution to sealing these in an attractive way? House has original oak hardwoods throughout. I can't seem to find what I need.

I would try to find a local person that specializes in refinishing wood floors and see it they can piece the wood over the old vents.

Thanks, Jamie - we are planning on refinishing the floors, so I'll check with the contractor then. I wondered whether that was a possibility.

Yes, can be done and when you are refinishing the rest of the floors is the perfect time to do it.
