Closure gap when frameless glass shower enclosure slider is "closed."

I have a question related to a recent installation at my home of a frameless glass shower enclosure. There is one fixed panel and one slider. When I close the slider and then let go of the handle, within 6-7 seconds the slider creeps open to a gap of one-half inch. When I brought this to the attention of the installing company, the response I got was, “Normally a ½ inch gap is within industry standard.” Is this statement true? Is there any actual standard? I’m quite concerned about leakage as this gap is adjacent to the wall where the shower head is mounted.
