Help choosing wall color for my Hardwood floor( new tone)

we just installed Mirage Hardwood floor in Maple Praline in our entire house and looking to paint the entire house with one color ( I have open floor concept And will order bright white kitchen cabinets . What paint color will go well with praline ? Im looking for neutral soft gray color that will make the house brighter but at the same time will make the white kitchen cabinets and the wainscoting stand out. ( I hate green tone).

Thank you

I like rantontoo's suggestions, but for the entire house, which will have different exposures, I think you need to paint two coats of a sample in each space and see how it holds up during the daylight hours.

My suggestion is a blue gray…B.M. First Snowfall, because I think it will look good in all areas of the house and give you a wider palate of accent colors to use in your fabrics and rugs.

We have floors that are extremely similar (ours are maybe a tad cooler in tone), white cabinets and trim throughout (specifically BM Super White), and most of our downstairs and upstairs hallway are BM Silver Chain -- it's a soft neutral grey, light enough to be 'light' but dark enough to make the trim stand out... here's a pic. Since it was going to be in the majority of our house, I went through a major gray-paint-analysis-paralysis choosing this color!!

Lana L, I’m glad it helped! It’s a great place to start among the 100s of grey/greige paint colors out there, then you can go one way or the other on the tone. I also have BM Silver Lake in one of our rooms and a bathroom (slightly bluish) and it’s a little colder, living with it all for 3 years I love the silver chain so much more.

I loved Grey Owl, but like you I steered clear of green undertones. Also, beige makes me break out in hives so i crossed off half the greys for being too brownish. (Though we painted our last house Revere Pewter, gotta love that color). Silver Chain is hard to beat. the photo I took before was the front foyer on the north side of our house. It’s hard to photograph paint, but here’s a pic from the south facing sunroom. It’s lighter than the pic shows (cloudy day and I’m shooting towards lots of windows)... we have a lot of white, grey, navy, some pale ivory like the rug in the pic, walnut toned wood, some black, and this color is just a great calm backdrop for all of it...

If you will use the same color throughout then I think you should choose counter tops before you choose wall color. If that is not possible for some reason then I would stay safe with white. Pale Oak or Collingwood from BM are shades of white.

I tried BM silver chain but it came too dark in my rooms. ( I have colonial and the 13x20” kitchen is dark.

I tried sw repose gray and light french gray ,they looked kind of green /beige and dark too.

I tried BM cloud, very nice soft and fresh color but it turned into light blue :-(

I need a soft light fresh silver color that is a true silver. ( No beige, Green )Any suggestions?

I agree with comment about choosing the stone first.

I recently had trouble with paint and I paid SW to send a color consultant to my house. Best $50 I ever spent. So helpful. I was able to choose by getting only 2 sample pots of paint, instead of my usual 10+.

Hi Lana! It's tricky to find silvery pale gray that won't go green or brown. The Benjamin Moore color of the year for 2019 is Metropolitan. It looks gorgeous in pictures—but, like Silver Chain, it's too dark for my rooms (registers as wet cement). I studied the BM paint deck and eliminated a lot of other popular grays: Classic Gray (too warm, pink?), Balboa Mist (too beige), Revere Pewter (too brown), Gray Owl (too green), Silver Half Dollar (too blue), Stonington and Conventry Gray (too dark).

My 1939 bungalow is a quirky space with wide trim painted BM Super White, which required a neutral backdrop for a scheme of black/white/pops of color.

My pick—BM Silver Satin OC-26—the results are FABULOUS! Good luck on your quest.

Hi Lana, if you like the tone of something (like Silver Chain) but think it’s too dark, you can have it mixed at 50% (so it’s basically half as saturated). I also have a color called Silver Lake, also BM. It’s ever so slightly on the blue toned side, but it’s fairly neutral - not as blue as something like Pale Smoke., but t’s noticeably cooler than silver chain. I put it in my art studio for this reason as I didn’t want any reflecting color and just wanted it ‘fresh’. Good luck, there are TOOOO many choices!! :)

I will check all the above colors at the store and get back to you

This might be too beige, but I just used Sherwin Williams Eider White and it is a slightly warmer light greige.

I got Repose gray 50% lightened and the color turned out GREAT ( true light silver).

its between Repose gray and Eider white.

Thank you all. Now I need to choose the Island color.
