Renovating Newly Purchased Home - Flooring and Paint Recommendations!

My husband and I recently purchased our first home together. My personal aesthetic is clean and classic. The foyer, living room, dining area, and family room require the most updates since the home was built in the mid 80s. I’ve attached photos for reference (the furniture was the previous owner’s).

I plan on replacing all the carpeting in these rooms with light oak or maple hardwood flooring.

I would pair this with light grey walls with white trim in the foyer, living and dining room. I know grey as a neutral color palette may be a dying trend. I’ve been looking at very “subdued” colors like Sherwin’s repose gray and agreeable gray. These will likely be my top 2 color choices. I also love Sherwin’s Dorian gray but am concerned that the rooms will look too dark since there isn’t a ton of natural light with the plantation shutters that the previous owner installed.

I’m at a bit of an impasse regarding which colors I should paint the kitchen and family room. There is very little paintable wall space in the kitchen but again I was thinking of repose gray to complement the white trim and white tiles. However, I don’t like the idea of grey walls with a brick fireplace and hardwood in the family room. I think the family room would be beautiful in all white. Because the kitchen and family room have a seamless transition I’m hesitant to do grey in the kitchen and then all white in the family room. Any ideas?

I would like to keep the color palette consistent throughout the main floor and don’t want to pick a color in stark contrast to the other rooms. I don’t plan on painting the fireplace. Your thoughts and suggestions are most welcome!
