Coffee table and end table help for modern glam living roomi

I returned the end tables next to the sofa because I didn’t think they would go well. I don’t know what to do for a coffee table. I plan on keeping the gold table in between the two chairs.

Can you help me find coffee table and end tables?!

Thanks so much!

Round tables would complement your sofa selection.

Thanks so much. I like those options!

What do you think about a coffee table?

    Should my end tables match?

You need to get someone with some decorating sense to help you. You have too many mismatched pieces. You need to figure out a style for your home. I think you should stop spending money and get someone to help you. Your end tables should match either other, but they should not exactly match the coffee table or the other small table. No more round gold and glass tables if you're going to keep that small one you have now.

I’m not keeping the ottoman, the pictures on the wall, or those 2 end tables that are currently in the picture. I returned the end tables. I’m just trying to find a cohesive coffee table and end table that would go with my sofa and chairs. I clearly need help which is why I’m on this forum.

One of the problems you have is .... your sofa and chairs don't match, so there is no coffee table or end tables that are going to fix that or make it look "cohesive". You need more help than a simple question on this forum is going to get you. So I would find someone locally who can help you, you have bigger problems then just getting a new coffee table. I hope you don't ignore me because I appear to be the only one trying to help you, and I am unaware of any character flaws or lack of social skills I possess in trying to do so. Just giving free decorating advice.

It would be helpful if you could move the items from your room that you are not keeping and also say what you’re will to change. Its hard to vision with items that may not have to be in the picture. The chairs, rug, lamps, and gold table are nice together. I just find it hard to see if the color of the sofa will work with the bench in front.

I love your furniture, it looks good together.

I’ll provide better pictures soon. I understand how that could be more helpful. Sorry for the confusion. I do appreciate all the feedback.

Here’s the picture with everything I’m keeping.

Hopefully this is a better picture. Any help you could provide with a coffee table would be greatly appreciated! Thanks so much.

Deluded AND rude. A most unpleasant combination.

How about something like this?? I like the metal legs as it's lighter feeling..

cpaul1, I think your advice would be more helpful if you could explain the reason for your statements. "No more round gold and glass tables if you're going to keep that small one you have now." Why not?

"One of the problems you have is .... your sofa and chairs don't match," How can you tell from those initial terribly dark pictures?

You might not intend it that way but your advice often comes across as harsh and condescending.

Your rug is beautiful, kejfree. Thanks for adding better lit pictures. It will help. Also, if you could? A picture of the whole room, including the window.

I think you have a nice beginning to work with! Are you open to some new art for above the couch? What you have there is too small and mounted too high.

you can mix metal w/some wood elements.

remove that tiny picture above your sofa and find something that is 2/3rd's the size of the sofa.

hang it 4-6 " above the back of the sofa. what you have is too small and way too high.

    Proper size

ditto the artwork above the black console. take all three of those small pictures and group them in a collage over the black piece. Don't hang it too high! Now find some nice,, larger artwork for the sofa and something between the windows

try a little console table, between the two windows. maybe a tall plant in the corner.

take a look at some of these combos and see what you like

I’m definitely open for artwork above the couch. Agree! It is way too small.
I love the idea of a little console table under the picture and a plant in the corner. I wanted to do that. With regard to the photo above the couch, the length of the couch is 92 inches. I was thinking of doing a gallery wall or 1 large photo that you have which probably needs to be about 62 inches. What about the width?

I like all the combinations that you provided particularly the gold table.

    What about something like this?

Thanks for the additional pictures, kejfree. Very helpful. Are your curtain panels shimmery? They look to pair well with your seating. When I think of modern glam, I picture velvet, tufting, shimmer, glass, mirror, marble, metallics - a fair dose of shine, especially. This picture in one of my ideabooks fits, imo. The colours might not appeal to you but notice the textures and materials. Glossy table, shimmery lampshade, fabric and metal end tables, velvet and satin...

I spotted one living room with many of those elements in your ideabook but don't know how to link to it. It's called eclectic living room and has a wallpapered wall. If I were you, I'd go back to it for inspiration.

Many of the tables Hansen found would work, imo. If I went with wood, I'd want it glossy. There's also glass or acrylic which are nice options as they allow the carpet to be seen. Here are some table ideas. I don't know your budget, the heights you need or any storage requirements so just focused on shapes and materials.

    Hayneedle - uttermost

    Something a little unexpected?

    Anthropologie - vallarta indoor/outdoor stool

A shot of graphic black & white? Round shape and the glimmer of gold.

    Anthropologie - Targua

    Onekingslane - camilla coffee table

An iron and glass table would be a good option as well. They're available at all price points.

I can't see your sideboard very well in the picture so don't know if it fits in your scheme but pieces like that can often easily be "glammed up" with crystal knobs, a stone top, a coat of high gloss paint... Anyway, that's my take on a modern glam living room.

Welp, totally nothing glam about the coffee table I suggested...Clearly, I didn't read the title...

Okay, plenty of great suggestions here, but I would caution you against a round coffee table since it will be in front of a round side table...You could do oval, but I wouldn't do round...

    2 of these?

You're making me wonder about table shapes, penny. We do squares together, why not two rounds?

Ah well...I wouldn't do a square coffee table in front of a square accent table either...

I guess it just doesn't look right to me.... I'm so sorry if I sounded all sorts of pretentious :) I'm really not. And you're correct, I shouldn't make a statement like that without expanding on it.

lacquered black/white or mirror tables. chrome square or rectangle. unless round has dimension/different levels

It didn't sound pretentious. I just curious. Guess I never thought about it before. It doesn't look right to me is a valid explanation. :)

Lacquered! That's the word I was looking for in my description. Thanks, lvl133. :)

I very much agree penny. Round/round just feels "off" to me. No idea why. It just does. :-)

and OP do what you can to ignore the harsh not very polite folks. They can't help it it seems. I think your room will be lovely when you put it all together.

One other thing. With your two chairs, could you move them a bit so they are square, not angled? Just curious to know if that might work a bit better in your overall "style". No worries if you would prefer not.

I lIke the color of your curtains. If you can, extend the rod on the outside on each side to incorporate one more panel on each. I think this will give you the rich elegant apearance that you’re looking for. You will also be able to puddle them better with extra material.

Hi there, I decided to go with
I think the sideboard is not working with your glam look, it seems a bit country. Perhaps if you painted it a blue to match chairs or rug and got some glass knobs?
    last modified: 6 years ago

That's a good choice, kejfree...Did you choose some end tables or are you waiting to get the coffee table in place, first?

How would you feel about using the sideboard as a sofa table? I can't see the rest of your room so I don't know if you're able to move the sofa to a non-wall area...but it's just a thought, anyway...

    Very nice!

It's crazy how one thing leads to another and then another and before you know it, this project gets totally out of hand and so confusing LOL!! Your place is beautiful! Love your couch and chairs. I agree with so many of the posts, except for Cpaul!! No need to be rude! A larger picture rather than a gallery above the couch would have more punch, IMO and maybe do the picture gallery over the sideboard. Coffee table you picked will also look great. I would also recommend trying to square off the chairs instead of having them at an angle as someone suggested. Curious to see how that would look, I would love to see some cushions on the couch to compliment the colour of the chairs. Also, I love your cabinet/sideboard but I would glam it up with crystal knobs and also add some glitz items on the top, such as a white vase, glass candle holders or some white/grey small pots with succulents, maybe in a tray. I also like the idea suggested of heavier/fuller curtains. If you're a sewer, you could line them to give them more weight. Of course, nothing is carved in stone. At the end of the day, it's your place and so long as you love it that's all that matters. Also, enjoy the process!! Looking forward to more pics.

I guess I could get some glass knobs for my sideboard. I didn’t decide on the end tables yet. Should I still go with a round end table? I like the idea of fuller curtains and one large print above the couch and sideboard. Do you have any ideas on coordinating artwork?
I’m also glad you liked the coffee table I selected. Unfortunately I can’t use the sideboard as a sofa table. I’m limited in space.

Ah okay..If you want to glam up the sideboard, would you consider diy-ing something like this? Just doing the front only of the doors/drawers...

    Just planting an idea here...

You are going to have a lovely room, I can hardly wait to see the finished product!
