Kitchen cabinet: Safety of materials versus cost versus aesthetics?

We are in a major dilemma regarding our kitchen design. We have quotes from a local shop called KZ kitchen that does China made cabinets and has given us a quote i.e 2k- 2.5k cheaper than Kraftmaid (Home Depot). Our primary reason to lean towards Home Depot is horror stories we have read about Formaldehyde glue in China made cabinets and other toxic chemicals. Can someone please advise? Material safety wise what is a good pick? Is CARB2 certification enough to exculpate materials? What specific characteristics should I look for feature wise. Also Home Depot cabinets are partial overlay versus full overlay for the China made cabinets. Please advise.
