Should I add a ceiling fan in a bedroom?

I’m updating a guest bedroom that has no over head lights. It was suggested to add a ceiling fan with a light. My ceilings are only 8 feet. Lighting is poor in the room. Help.

I prefer ceiling fans in bedrooms. I’m an air junkie, though! We did smaller ceiling fans in 2 bedrooms, a larger ceiling fan for our room and a semi-flush mount light in our office.
If you’re worried about the fan being too low, but still want a light on the ceiling- do a flush mount ceiling light.

That is the worst type of light to have in a room. If you need a ceiling fan and adding recessed lights isn’t in the budget, adding a light is an option. Just make sure you have plenty of lamps in the room - that is a much nicer light. Flank the beds with table lamps and put a floor lamp in a corner. If there’s a desk or dresser, you can put a desk or small table lamp on those.

Yes, y guests have appreciated it. No the lighting isn’t the best but that’s why I always have lamps too.

Do you have AC if you do just get a really nice light , I actually prefer open windows to a ceiling fan for air so that is waht I would do. I have a dyson table fan and it is awesome and comes with a filter to clean the air so a win win IMO. Table lamps are a must and IMO the overhead light does not need a dimmer. Susie’s ideas are great.

speaking for, probably most if not all, 50 year old women...FAN! Lights from ceiling fans aren't very bright but that in addition to lamps will work really well.
