Ideally I'd slide a flat console (wider than the TV) onto the wall to the left of the fireplace, and then put an arm chair on that wall to the left, joining the conversational grouping and able to see the TV. If you're really going to leave it like this, you might still put an ottoman or bench on that wall, which could be pulled out when there is company, and then hang a single large piece of art on that wall. I think I'd try to keep from adding much to the space between TV and fireplace, because your mantel already looks a bit laden. Maybe your fireplace tools or a basket of wood could sit right by the fireplace and nothing else.

This really depends on sizing and style I happen to like Besta from Ikea for a lot of different uses and for T.V

sixkeys, The arrangement looks great. Add some graphics to the walls and you're done. You're taking your photos from down low so you won't be in the reflection of the flatscreen. The photos make the unit look taller and more foreboding than it is in reality. Don't paint it. It's really a great looking wall unit. Before I spent another moment of valuable time on rearranging the accessories, I'd address the real problem which is the screen on the TV. There isn't a day when I don't receive an email about a sale on a flatscreen. You can spend as little or as much as you wish. Changing it out will make a huge difference. BTW how do you address the glare on the screen from that window?

You could swap the t.v. wall with the sofa wall in Bev's layout. But then it might be even more noticeable? And/or... you could find a way to blend the t.v. into a media wall so it disappears when you want it to. But I see a cute little cherub watching t.v. on the floor, so I'm thinking t.v. watching is a fact of life in your household, so maybe disguising the t.v. is going a bit overboard? I.e, this is a room meant for t.v. watching, not just socializing? Also if you go with Bev's layout and get some great large art to go above the sofa, then people's eyes will go there, not to the t.v. Some fabulous drapes on the window will also draw the eyes away from the t.v. Heck nice area rug, throw pillows, etc... all will draw the eye from the t.v. Regardless Bev's plan is flexible as you can swap the t.v. and sofa to go either side.
