Why not use real wood? Herringbone is available pre cut from custom shops minimizing waste and installation time.

Gosh those photos for your inspiration are really gorgeous. I think it is a very classic look and I wouldn't tire of it for sure.

If you're up for the additional installation costs, go for it.

Somewhere there was a post of a washroom where they had used herringbone wood look tile and it was fantastic. I'll search and see if I can find it and post a link. It is certainly doable with tile, but yes, like others said, have a lengthy discussion with your installer to be sure everyone is on the same page for the finished look and the pros and cons and costs associated.

Yes, hallways are the worst areas for flooring wear and I completely understand your desire for tile. BUT, as Jan Moyer pointed out, the cost for your heart's desire is going to be staggering. Better to use real wood if you are set on herringbone...as suggested by Oak & Broad.

Nothing wrong with using wood look tile for herringbone design................however, you must select a short tile. You can't select a 6x48 and think the installer will cut it down to size. I would say the maximum is 6x24.

Your inspo pic is a 3" x 12" max. Just one reason you love it. When you get to Porcelain wood looks? You get sizing issues, and the possibility of a less than perfection install. Do it in wood.......or take a pass. That would be a ton of heartbreak ...............unless absolute perfection. A lot easier in wood components. Sand on site.

max0822 , tell them you found a supplier that can cut the herringbone or chevron pattern for you and ship it out that way ;-) We have it available. There is a lead time though since its made to order.
