Butcher block perimeter and stone island?

A

We have a small 1920s kitchen with the sink in the island, rather than on the perimeter. Because of the tight layout, the corner of the perimeter counters closest to the entryway has to be able to come off in order to get appliances in and out. Right now just that corner is butcher block. We're getting new countertops for the entire kitchen and I'm wondering if we should do butcher block for the whole perimeter with some sort of stone on the island by the sink. I haven't seen a lot of this configuration, usually the opposite with the butcher block island and stone perimeter. Since the sink is in the island, though, stone seems to be the best choice. Is this "backwards" configuration a bad idea? Is butcher block near the stove an issue? Would love to see photos if anyone has an example.
