hanging a light over dining room table in open concept home

We have a complete open concept 1st floor and we chose or layout to maximize the views. We do not have a formal dining space as we planned on using the 10”island, however we have kids and want to have sit down meals facing each other. I brought our old dining room table up but I am struggling to define space in the open concept. I would like to hang a light centered on dining room table but am worried it will look odd since it is not a defined space. Advice or suggestions appreciated.

Do I see a floor outlet by the table? If so, seems that an arc lamp would be the answer. Why not paint the table to match the chairs?

Pretty room! I totally get your dilemma. We ran a track light that blended in with the beam above it. Track systems sell pendant wiring to retro fit a chandelier.
What does the other side of the room look like behind the couch?
The table placement doesn’t seem quite right.

These are the views behind the couches. Behind the long one is the front entrance (which is a fairly open area and behind the shorter one is the kitchen. I really like the idea of buying a longer narrow rectangle table to replace the octagon but am afraid everything will look to linear with the long kitchen and island.

How old are the kids? Im thinking this wont be a forever situation.

Why not move it to behind the two arm chairs in front of the window, rather then kinda plunked where it is?

Dont add a light, no matter what the table itself tells you its an after thought lol.

Use a floor lamp that arcs over the table.

Or table at barn door. I have this same problem. Mine is near my entry door. We hang light from beam, u might plug yours into the recess light.

You can also move couch back to windows in the center of room. Table on the living room side of island.

IMO that table does not work in that space at all maybe a nice round table I think with the beams the way they are you could easily have an actual light hung over the table if ypou just position the table centered under a beam.As for the rectangular table IMO it makes the most sense and linear is a nice look.
