Help with bathroom sink and vanity located in master bedroom
Comments (38)I have this configuration and we solved it by treating it like a boutique hotel would. The ceiling in the area is sloped with a skylight (coming down from the vaulted bedroom area), so closing it off would have 1. made the room feel smaller and 2. required lots of framing/expense. Instead, we tiled with rustic multi-hued tiles (narrow strip pieces in multiple colors, including some copper pieces) from the vanity to the ceiling, framed the mirror so that it filled from wall to wall, and put up a new light fixture with a "pottery barn" feel. We tiled the vanity and backsplash with a complimentary tile that we also used on the floor in the bathroom. Then we painted the vanity dark brown and replaced the hardware. I am wishing we would have done a vessel sink, but what we have looks fine. In the end, the vanity/mirror makes the room feel much larger, the pieces tie together, and the tile wall adds texture and interest. Is having the vanity and sink in my bedroom ideal? No. But it's also not a deal breaker since it is so lovely to look at....See MoreIdeas on how to separate bathroom vanity from master bedroom?
Comments (24)This looks exactly like my bedroom, except the opening is 73" wide and the ceiling is open with a long beam running at the apex of the ceiling. And, as you can see, the previous owner had a TV cubby cut into the attic space and framed in!!! It gets better...closet door on right, SALOON SHUTTER half-doors on left into actual toilet/shower area. I hope to refinish the vanity, find a stained glass window to hang over the TV cubby (with very small mini lamp behind it to illuminate), and get a real door for bathroom. I tried placing 5' high wardrobe across entrance as kind of a room divider, but it was too deep and the room balance was wrong, so I'm going to try to make the vanity look more like a piece of furniture by refinishing. Eventually I want to replace counter top with one vessel sink and cap the other sink off, since it isn't used. Hopefully, those changes will make the nook look less bathroomy. We're remodeling the interior part of the bathroom now, so pardon the mess, but you can see the saloon door on right, TV cubby, and roofline in the pic. Suggestions welcomed!...See MoreMove wall to include vanity in bathroom and separate from Bedroom
Comments (1)Just a thought, if you put a door on that area, i bet you will still leave it open most of the time - just for ease of use - although you would probably close it at bedtime if light comes from the bathroom. A total revamp of the area may be needed which may not be in your budget....See MoreNeed input on master bedroom/bathroom layout
Comments (40)Auto correct - I mean, But, not "Plug"! A standard basic tub is 5' long and about 2-1/2 feet wide for kind of smallest tub. Free standing a bit larger, plus you need space for the tub filler plumbing. So that is a consideration. If you loose the linen, you could do the tub/shower along that whole wall. You have your options and more here, so see what you come up with for final decision-making. Usually, in the end, it comes down to overall budget! lol But fun thinking of all the options, so you know what is doable and can go from there! Merry Christmas!!...See MoreNancy in Mich
